Personally, i couldn't care less about his history. We simply will not replace this lad with anyone of a similar calibre. If he signed a new contract i'd be delighted.

Of course it could be that he only wants to sign a contract with a release clause but either way, at least it means we could get good money for him if he insists on leaving.

A new contract can only be good news all round. He gets a proper wage, he's motivated, he rediscovers his form (which was never far away as far as i'm concerned) and it boosts any potential transfer fee.

Let's not forget that, through his petulance and unprofessionalism, he's cost us half a season of appearances and goals but he's still been picking up his wages every week. He owes Albion big time.

Sign a new bumper 4 year deal, have a release clause for a certain price. Protects us if the offer isn't met, yet still means he can go if an offer is high enough. And he could triple his wages for the moment
