Chris is right, whoever takes over is going to have to do so much more than just manage the team, the boards useless

Getting rid of Wenger will be very difficult. Thats why I have said for a few years now that the only way is to push him upstairs and bring in a younger enthusiastic manager.

Joggi Low, that's who they want after Wenger, but dont think he wants to leave the national team, but they only want Wenger.

That's gonna be tough as the board haven't got a clue about football.

Sure there are enough people involved with the club who could inform the process. Although his best days as manager are behind him, Wenger's input might not be as bad a starting point as it might seem.

As a neutral, I'd like to continue to see an Arsenal side that continues to want to put the ball on the deck, albeit with more steel and resilience, better organised pressing, etc.

You're going to have to be really determind if you do decide to depart from the ways of the past couple of decades and go for the Simeone type, because it might not produce immediate results and the football certainly isn't going to be to many fans' taste.

What it does do create distance between him and dressing room. Directors are not allowed to interfere. To a great extent it forces him to be held accountable for some of his buys without the emotional attachment he has to them. No one can be sure a player will succeed. Our problem is that Wenger is not ruthless with players when they do not. Giroud is a prime example of that dithering.

Wenger should have no involvement in player recruitment, or any technical aspect of the club when he is gone.

And who on the board has the ability to run scouting systems and youth development?

Thats been our problem since Dein was fired. Dein hired Wenger but still had the last answer on player purchases and sales. Its no surprise we are always 2 players short ever since he was fired!

And that's why Wenger should have nothing to do with recruitment - We could do worse than bringing in Simeone and his director of football

Wenger has control over so much, and has demonstrated his incompetence in so many areas, that giving him any responsibility would be stupid.

The club would never have Diego Simeone, just not their type,

ideally they'd want someone from the Wenger mould- languages, urbane, intellectual, clever, philosophy, cerebral, the Arsenal project, someone who thinks outside of just what happens on the pitch ie finance, marketing, culture,

basically it's not just about football & results, winning etc, that's why Joggi Low fits the Arsenal profile or Remi Garde!

They may not get what they want exactly so maybe Frank Dr Boer/Bergkamp, Dutch connection with Joncker, ok Joncker? Could be him?

Dotty, you have to consider if Simeone will be as successful outside of Atletico.

You get the feeling he's in his comfort zone, he loves the club so much and he played for them for many years. I don't think he will replicate that passion with another club.

I would love for us to take a risk on someone like Simeone - We're such a frigid prude priiick club,

Yeah he is definitely worth the risk, but there's always that feeling if he can be as successful outside of Atletico. Like I said, it's that passion and love for them that has made him so successful. He is very attached to them, and you wonder if he can be like that with another club.

Dot do you see Gazidis bringing in a director of football and undermining his own authority?

No chance! That sort of thing will require a new CEO. I don't mind if Kroenke does a clean sweep and brings in David Gill. But thats wishful thinking.

Realistically if Gazidis can persuade Wenger to come onto the board is the only we get a new manager. The Man Utd experience is going to make Kroenke think twice of doing anything else in my opinion.

Sanchez said: “With the players we have, I think we can win the Premier League. However, we are lacking a bit of hunger, entering the field with the mentality of winning 1-0. We aren’t believing in ourselves, thinking we can be champions.

“I remember a game against Manchester United last season, before we entered the pitch, I saw my teammates with the hunger to win, and we dominated the first 20 minutes, going 2-0 up. Then, we entered with red eyes, with the hunger to win.”

this is a quote from Sanchez last night, not something you want to hear tbh.

Arsenal hiring Diego Simeone would be like the new labour project Blair, hiring.....Jeremy Corbyn, I'd be gob smacked if that ever happened! Of course if the fans were given a vote.......

He's one of the senior players in the squad, he has a responsibility to get them going as much as any other member of the team. Team being the operative word.
