it was not great from Mata but it wasnt a red card either
totally ruined the game. ref should have used common sense. i've seen both types of those incidents ignored or not carded.
no point discussing anything after that, playing with 10 men for 70% of the game, and having played our 5th game in 13 days - we were not going to put in a swashbuckling performance and get a result

Fact of the matter is, we were down to 10 men, so we're Arsenal and so were LFC. They both showed basic things like fight and urgency unlike us. We had plenty of situations like this under SAF. We showed nothing but weakness. Mata was stupid, but the whole 'players needed a rest' is bollucks. LVG should have kept depay varela and Morgan in. He is clueless.

Haven't most of the top teams been playing the same number of games recently and in City's case extra time too. Not all those players today have played every game recently so it doesn't really excuse tiredness all round.
We were poor, however you want to spin it, and it's been happening a lot in recent months. Yes injuries, red card and tiredness don't help but use them as the excuse as to why we aren't playing well or getting the results we need. The main issue has been we've been poor, and today was another example of that.

We'll continue to be poor for quite some time yet. Our problems run far deeper.
LVG has started to build exactly where the club need to build - in the Academy and Youth set-up. What a disaster zone that has been for a decade.
He manages the whole club, not just the first team. They're simply the visible part of a whole structure falling apart where everything drops through the fingers, apart from the money.
5 in 14 when 2 of those games were against Shrewsbury and Midgetland really isn't an excuse, especially when those around us were playing the same number.
