Like an opportunity missed - that's how far United have fallen from their peak.
United aren't terrible, the league shows that, but from high standards set they're a shadow of a few years ago. And that has nothing to do with bad luck as you harp on about.
It is bad luck, we could easily had another 20 points this season but the fine margins have gone against us nearly every game.
Easily? If easily then you should have taken the chances on several of those occassions.
You say you 80% territorial possession per game? But can't find a way on converting it?
Possession without the results isn't bad luck, it's a teams shortcomings in not being able to do anything with it.
The only bad luck this season is some of the injuries...but every United fan out there knew LVG was taking you into the season short in a few positions, so is that still bad luck or bad planning?
United are where they are on merit.
adam85 no team has kept more clean sheets then Man Utd, only Man City are level. Strangely enough LVG and Pellegrini sides have similar attacking philosophy of territorial domination.
What difference does that make in terms of my previous statement? It just reinforces what I said about the teams shortcomings if you keep clean sheets, have territorial advantage, but fail to convert the chances. That's nothing to do with bad luck. It's a pattern.
So clearly that attacking philosophy isn't working if you have more clean sheets but our goal difference is a huge +19 better off than yours. Or would you disagree with that? (obviously)
All I am saying is we are not a bad side. This season we just don't have any good strikers. Memphis has been shocking not only in attack but cost us goals and made us drop points due to defensive errors giving it away for no reason. Its a miracle we still are only 4 points off 4th spot considering how shocking our season has felt since around middle of November.

I did start off saying United aren't a terrible side. But having terrible strikers isn't bad luck.
United are where they should be based on performance. So give it a rest with possession and clean sheet stats, they mean nothing if the whole team can't do enough to get the ball in the net or points on the board.

Our problem is against sides in bottom third. Pellegrini is great against those sides. Its weird Pellegrini is poor against top sides but good against bottom sides and LVG is opposite. To be honest it would be a huge upset going by this season if Man City beat Man Utd.
Man City 19th against top third teams didn't realise it was that bad while Man Utd are 2nd with a chance to go top.

So, again, against sides where you have superior possession you fail to break them down?
Not sure if you're trying to argue or finally agreeing?
We peppered the goal in these games.
And couldn't score.
Once is a bad day at the office. Several times is a poor performance.

It will be shiiiit if Leicester win it. Would be a victory for cautious and dull football.

Dull and Cautious?? We have won more games than anyone else and after tonight's game may also have scored more goals than anyone else. (1 goal less than Spurs before tonight's game)
