Elneny is a very good signing but I do not agree with the 'purchase bit'.
Ultimately Wenger's penny pinching habit cost us the title this season. We needed a solid player who could crack on from the get go, help us in the run in but he instead choose to penny pinch and in process managed on of the biggest bottle job in Prem history.
If Wenger was penny pinching then likes of Arteta, Rosicky, Flamini, Sanogo and Szcesny shouldn't be in our wage books.
I agree - although I really don't like the idea of Ramsey going out-wide.
He isn't a natural wideman, and I feel the only reason there seemed to be more balance when he played out there was because - like Ramires did at Chelsea - he would often drift inside to help make the centre of midfield more solid.
But the main reason our central midfield has looked vulnerable this season is:
1) Because of the injury to Coquelin and the lack of natural cover. And:
2) Because we tend to play with a very gung-ho style that results in one of our deep-lying midfielders bombing forward and leaving the other to try and single-handedly snuff out opposition counter-attacks.
The main benefit of the Elneny-Coquelin partnership is that neither one ever really overcommits, which means we always have a solid base at the heart of midfield. I feel this makes it easier to recycle possession, but more importantly, makes us less vulnerable to the counter-attack.
Further, I think there is the potential for Sanchez to do very well for us down the right. I think part of the reason for his drop in-form is how predictable he has become down the left-flank (always looking to cut inside), combined with the fact we've been controlling games a lot less effectively (meaning Monreal isn't always in a position to overlap as readily as he is compared to games where we dominate possession). This makes it very easy for teams to snuff him out - particularly when they double up - and I feel he ends up losing the ball a lot as a result.
Playing as a right-winger was really where he made his name - although I appreciate his best season at Udinese was when he played just off the striker - and I think with Sanchez right, Iwobi left, and a solid core of Elneny and Coquelin, we could finally start to see some balance return to our team - at least for the remainder of the season!
Always said we we should play with 2 DM / CM. Its the Arsenal way and is a proven success for us.

Paddy was obviously the more attacking player but not by much and he was great defensively. We left the attacking work to Henry, Bergkamp, Pires and Freddie which was enough to beat most teams.
Ramsey should not be in this team at the moment. Fed up with these players coming straight back in after doing feck all to deserve it. It's left us with a load of players who take their place in the team for granted. Today I saw way more determination and passion from coq, Elneny, Welbeck, and Iwobi that I've seen from likes of Ramsey, ox, Walcott all season. Probably Giroud at times as well. The first lot mentioned play like they have something to prove, they're playing for their place and are determined to prove they are good enough. Ramsey Walcott etc just seem to go through the motions on the pitch these days. As if their job is done, and they can just turn up not put much effort in and still win and get picked. There just isn't the hunger with them.
I don't want to see them in the starting line up for a while to come. They've already had their chance, and bottled our season. They have to force they're way back in if they want to play for us. Not just parachuted in. It's like with Campbell, he try's hard, offers a lot, yes he's not the best but he offers more than Walcott. But then what happens, he gets dropped as soon as Walcott turns up.
