I think, and this is a bit leftfield, they scored more goals than us in a team game. Crazy I know.
we just did,not worth looking for scapegoats move on
We lost the game in midfield in the second half. Our failure to combat the introduction of Wanyama was the catalyst. When Sturridge came off we should have had an extra midfielder in. Easy to say in hindsight.
Likewise you'd say when cruising it was the perfect time to introduce Skrtel, coming back from an injury and very rusty but in hindsight it turned out to be not the case.
Scapegoats? It doesn't happen often but sometimes it is down to one player.
OP is correct, we lost yesterday because of Skrtel and Klopp by extension for playing him.
i thought we lost as a team
Feel for Kolo. Not put a foot wrong and in fact has been outstanding but is bypassed by a unfit Skrtel.
Further learning curve for Klopp.
Allen and especially Benteke could and probably should have scored.
Mignolets kick for the 3rd was laughable.
All of Southampton goals were good finishes.
Lack of leadership in the middle.
All our centre back too easily turned or beaten by Pele in the air.
Klopp game management at 2-0 up is questionable.
Tough place to go but very frustrating. Credit to Southampton though.

Yeah, we lost as a team because of Skrtel.
If Mignolet kicked the ball more than 20 yards we wouldn't have lost.
If Benteke could hit the target from 15 yards we may have won.
It really is a team game.

dont you mean martin scapegoat
He is not a scapegoat. Out of all the factors causing our loss, Skrtel was the most central.
We had conceded 3 in 10 games. Skrtel comes in for one half and we concede 3 in the comical fashion we used to before he got injured and the whole time he has been a regular for us. Also managed to give away a pen and scored more own goals than Carra.
He's a joke. The penny must drop at some point.

if only football was that simple
Always more talk on this site after a loss than after a win.
We lost badly, it happens.
Barca lost a two goal lead yesterday and they are almost the best team ever.
It happens, move on.
Well up for Spurs in 2 weeks. Let's end their title hopes

Guess who that quote is from?
It's funny really, Skrtel was always a liability.
At 31 with vast experience he should be a towering presence. I'd rather play Lucas or Can...
Fatigue. Playing the same team week in week out does not help. As Jurgen said we have played around 20 more games than Saints this season.
Jurgen made a boo boo bringing on Skrtel. I watched him for the U21's and he did not look up to it at that level. He should of had Kolo in there who has been consistent this season.
At the time it seemed the opportune moment to bring Skrtel on.
2-0 up and cruising, just back from injury so needs game time and Lovren had had a card.
It just didn't work.
Three reasons:
Fatigue compared to Southampton players. That is a minor excuse though - we should have the squad to cope.
Martin Skrtel being a liability as usual (hopefully that's cemented his exit though). He just made the whole defence unsteady with his presence.
Also Klopp. He got his subs all wrong. Southampton bring on Wanyama and Mane and he didn't do anything about it, he just swapped Lovren (who fair enough was looking ropey in a yellow) for an even ropier Skrtel.
Southampton dominated the midfield because Klopp got complacent and failed to see the danger of having Wanyama in midfield. He clearly should've brought Henderson on to counter that, and to instead bring Benteke on was a bad bad move. Also selecting Skrtel (who hasn't played since December, and who is a total liability at the best of times) instead of the recently quite assured Toure, was another howler of a decision.
Klopp will be a great manager for us, especially when he brings a few of his own players in, but he made some awful, costly, needless, and inexcusable decisions here.
Yeah, Klopp did not manage the situation well, but we were still looking dangerous and could have scored another to shut them up if the muppet show at the back hadn't begun.
Introducing is right. Unsteady at the back with Skrtel. I feel will sorry for Kolo... always there, always ready, always performs, always smiling, always neglected. He has won more titles than our entire team put together (pretty sure).
Anyways I appreciate your thoughts, it is a team game and the whole team performed better without Skrtel ergo - Skrtel is the reason why we lost. Look back at all three goals and study him - dear God.
