Sad really, his comments were spot on, Men should be paid more than women, and no not because they are men but because they play a minimum of 3 sets a maximum of 5 sets whereas women play a maximum of 3 sets. Men play for triple the amount of time, so why on earth should women get paid the same? It's stupid. Said this years ago when they announced it will be equal

I can see both ends of the argument.
Really the men should get more as they generate far more money but it's certainly not like those at the top of mens tennis go hungry. In fact they earn excellent money.
I'd rather women and men were all encouraged to get into sport and equal pay will go some way to helping that.
If women's football paid better and had better coverage more women would play and we'd therefore we'd have more fit women who are into football. It's win win

The debate shouldn't be around how much time each spend on court or the number of sets they play, that is completely moot (should 10'000m runners in athletics earn more than 100m sprinters because they spend more time on the track? Not an exact comparison, of course but the principle's the same) the debate should be around who brings in more money and generates more revenue through court day tickets and television deals; fact is the men's tour pulls in more on both counts and the tour should therefore be rewarded accordingly with a fair proportion of what they help bring in to the tour and that is a darn cite more than the women.
This isn't sexism; this isn't misogyny; this is basic supply and demand, the very principle that is helping make these women rich in the first place.
Feminist is a good thing but mixed with PC it's a disaster. The response from media outlet typically is PC and this makes the feminist views stupid.
Men are physically more capable than women. Women could no way go 5 sets and play as many matches as men. Just not possible at all. They struggle with consistency in 3 sets ffs. Simple economics is the right term for this, no PC BS. Just hardcore facts. Also that thing that this CEO said about women should be thanking Federer and Nadal was spot on

You almost managed to make yourself sound like a Trump supporter. Well done!
People want to watch sport at the highest level, men's sport is more popular for the same reason the PL is more popular that league 2... men just have a higher physical potential. Tennis is one of the sports where the women's game is at a high level though. They should be playing 5 sets in grand slams then there wouldn't be an issue with equal pay.
Simple solution for me.
Appearance fee equal however bonus fee is a % of TV revenue.
Therefore whichever gender generates more in TV sales will earn more.
Under the current set up, Men will naturally earn more due to their TV deals generating more revenue. However if women start pulling in the numbers the bonus fee will see their earnings rise above the men.
It's up to both Tours to get creative in how they generate more revenue in TV deals/
