Be a shame to lose Sturridge. Our iconic front men from the nearly made it season are falling away. I'd be sad to see him go - 7 goals in 11 starts this season. He's a class act.

"Nearly made it season"
Are you for real?
What do you celebrate that season with a few beers and a "nearly season team" screen saver?
M
When available he score lots and lots of goals for Liverpool.
He's fit, although not quite match fit and he is still scoring goals.
Selling him now would be madness imo. Finding a replacement of equal quality will be very, very hard.
We have money to spend in the summer anyway. I want the manager to find solutions to our current problems, not add another, bigger one, by selling a goal machine,

Nearly team
We have no chance at signing a player even 80% as good as him. Firstly, only a handful exist, secondly we couldn't attract one of them for any amount of money as they all want proper trophy chances.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
To be fair they have a chance of a trophy or three if they spend about 5 years at Liverpool
I meant major trophies
No one cares about tin pots like the FA Cup and MIlk Cup anymore, they're just nice bonuses to real trophies
Well you are not going to be able to attract the cream of the crop with that outlook then.
But do you really need to cream of the crop, would clever scouting and player identification be a better idea........
Something Klopp has done in the past?
yes, that's our level
replacing Studge isn't our level
Why not, he has a terrible injury record.
He (Klopp) could have the next Dortmund style gem already in mind
We managed to attract Sturridge.
I don't see why we couldn't attract someone else as good as him (in terms of what they would bring to our TEAM not necessarily raw talent).
It really depends on how Klopp wants to play. Maybe he sees Firmino as a 9 anyway. If we signed say Gotze to play off him, with Coutinho left and a new right sided forward (Volland, for example). I fail to see how that would be massively worse than having Sturridge.
We have a lot of forwards as it is. Ings is good, Origi is good.
They are not Sturridge good, but Firmino has been Sturridge good in 2016.
Sell Sturridge for £45m (a great deal), buy Gotze for £30m, Volland for £14m (alleged rough prices). That's a new forward line ready without spending any money yet and with Benteke and Balotelli still to be sold.
All hypothetical but all possible.
The guy is a crock but just the thought of him being fed through balls from Özil mouthwatering!!!!
Not many out there who can time up runs like he does
"They are not Sturridge good"
exactly
in theory any club can sign a player who isn't currently top class and find out later they are (Mahrez and Payet this season) but that's roulette and hindsight
Sturridge was one of those buys......a risk

I agree, however why not cash in on a player who's injury record is suspect.
Then get a player who will work to the managers plans?
I think Leicester prove its about the sum of the parts, not the constituent parts.
I trust Klopp to build a team with us.
If it takes selling a better individual to do it then so be it.
Klopp won't sell him if he doesn't think it will be in our long term interests to do so.

Might be the right move
my point is we're not capable of attracting a player who is proven to be in the same class. we could get lucky with someone who isn't, or we could replace him with Benteke or Balotelli
You don't think we have any chance of signing Gotze?
A lot of noise about it.
He's definitely class.
What difference does it make?
We can either attract class or we can't.
maybe Klopp can lure a player he used to manage based on a personal relationship as a one-off, maybe he can't. But that's a level of pedantry I'm not going to seriously debate.
but we were talking about replacing Studge, so it's No. 9s
Never under estimate a player......
Did I ever think we could sign Lukaku??
So don't think Liverpool can't sign someone to replace Sturridge.
There are rumours we are interested in the River Plate striker Alario. I have seen him play as i watch the river and boca juniors games, he is more in the mould of a Higuain than Studge.

I like you TKT. You are a Liverpool fan with a bit of perspective. I know plenty of Liverpool fans on here and in the real world who seem to think they can sign the worlds top players and I find it rather amusing.
strangely enough, I'm probably the 2nd most optimistic on here after Got_Better.
I just don't think we can lure Aguero, James, and the next Neymar (when he appears) from under the noses of 10+ other clubs.
We do much better than given credit for in the transfer market in finding top players before they're top, but thinking we can pull them once established his overdose on crystal meth optimism. We can get back to top club status with a combination of skill, luck and timing (we'll need all 3 and a bit of ), but we just don't have it now unfortunately.
We're going to do it
