Cheaper? Don't be daft. Also, Yak spent more of his career in the Premiership, not some sub standard Croatian league. Your stats mean nothing.

Cheaper?

Also, what are Kalli's stats in England compared to Yaks?

Don't think I'm defending Kean. I don't think it's strange that Kalli didn't feature much under Sam (despite him signing him) as he's not a chaser or header. I do wonder though with a scoring record like that and Coatians reckoning he was their next big thing, why he didn't feature more under Kean.

With our top scorer last season bagging 5 and 2 wins in 20 or so games it was hardly for fear of breaking a winning team.

Yak could be a great signing if he is a kind of point man for lots of smaller, creative players to buzz off a la Kevin Davis at Bolton. Birmingham being another example in that they finished 10th 15 months ago and never won a game by more than one goal.

For this to work though he'd need to be fit, score about ten and 3 or 4 midfield/secondary attackers chip in with 4-6 goals each. Have any of them proven they can do it yet?

Anyway, I think I had a point when I started...

Agreed, and nether does the 11 goals in 20 games for leicester mean hes prem quality these days.

Super Keith, I know your a passionate lad as I have the lovebites to prove it, but respond to the post rather than the username:

"Did Kean do the right thing?

Kalanic career total is
153 games and 63 goals = 1 goal every 2.43 games

The Yak career total is
322 games and 122 goals = 1 goal every 2.64 games"

Is valid even if:

"So stats show Kalanic to be the better striker and younger and cheaper than the Yak"

Is a little spurious...

Mc V,

The 11 in 20 for Leicester is tricky though, Walcott never had that kind of record at lower league and went for millions as did Connor Wickham this transfer window. It shows he still knows where the net is.

If Jason Roberts played 20 for Leicester would he score 11, hard to say. People were relatively excited by Goodwillie and seem to be annoyed at Yakubu yet many a Scotty striker has gone to the Championship and not lived up to their scoring record in the SPL...

I suppose time will tell...

This article is a terrible argument, goodwillie must be far better than most strikers in the premier league with his goal to game ratio

I think it is safe to say that Yakubu us better than Kalinic and a lot cheaper.

McT, the proof is yet to be served. Think Benni Mc, did well for us and cheap purchase, then ask West Ham fans how they rate him...

I wonder what Kalanic stats ould be after the same number of games, hard to say so for me not a good comparison,or in fact any comparison, suppose he scores more than Roberts whis is a comparison that is more to the point as Roberts is still here, mixed feelings and think he is a desperate last minute signing from a desperate last minute no tactics at all manager.

Your stats mean nothing as yakubu's goals were scored in the best league in the world not some micky mouse league!.... However i do rate kalinic and i do beleive that if he had better midfielders around him creating the chances, eg when we had the likes of bentley and and in form pedersen...when roque was around and benni they thrived of him! Also sam allardyce's football and tactics just dont suit kalinic's game so i dont really know why he purchased him! Allardyce tried to play him target man role (kevin 'fatboy' davis role) when he is about 8 stone lighter and is a poacher! So in reality what chancee did he stand.....on the other note i think yakubu could be a good addition as he has got proven premier league experience which will only do the likes of goodwille, rochin, formica the world of good!

Same reply as everyone else really, the Croatian league is probably worse than the SPL. Yakubu has done it in the PL, but not for about 3 years so we'll have to see. Another point is Yakubu cost a sixth of what we paid for Kalinic.

Yakubu certainly looks eight stone heavier than Kalinic. I'm intrigued to see our new first team.
