Then who is going to pay the bills?

He didn't have a lot of money at all. Not half of what Sherwood had. And obviously made a huge profit on Benteke thanks to him.
My point wasn't about the fans turning up. It was that managers in the past haven't been good enough because expectations were too high.
And there was me thinking Lambert bought Benteke! And that Houllier bought N'Zogbia for £10m.
Nope. Houllier didn't buy N'zogbia. He didn't need to; we had Young and Downing. N'zogbia was bought by Villa to replace them ; it was after Houllier left, but not sure it was McLeish who signed him; could it have been Riley, before McLeish arrived?
Whatever, Zog just didn't fit into McLeish's style. Nobody did really, but Zog was perhaps the biggest misfit.
Wow, I remember being p*ssed off when McJudas couldn't get N'Zog to sign for us [Blues]......what a shocking player!
Look at it from Zog's point of view. He was bought as an attacker. He did fine at Wigan in that role. McLeish wanted him to play as a midfielder, and all McLeish's midfielders were defensive ones. Zog looked lost on the pitch, and he wasn't the only one. Then he had a year off with an Achilles tendon injury, and didn't have a regular place under Lambert. Career down the drain. He'll play if asked, but nobody has shone for Villa this season.
Question is..... Will Villa come straight back up ?
Not wit the yank in charge
If only Lerner could just feck off. He is severely disliked down at Villa Park and no one wants him, but no one will buy us. The club at the moment is poisonous but you would still like to think that a rich Arab would be interested in reigniting a hopelessly forlorn club that used to compete and try to win games and still has a big presence in the country. Despite a horrendous season over 30k are still turning up to Villa and the club has over 2 million likes on Facebook, more than Everton. Yet the ignominious state of the club at the moment and the sense that it is dying a death would suggest Lerner will continue to plunge the club into despair and financial ruin.
The likes of N'Zogbia are where it has all gone wrong (and yes, he was bought by Alex Macleish, who failed to use him correctly). Was fantastic at Wigan and was supposed to be a star player for us, yet has only scored about four goals in five years. Gabby Agbonlahor used to be the fastest striker in the league and scored against the likes of Arsenal, Man United and Chelsea, but he contributes absolutely nothing nowadays and still gets paid a fortune. We should have shipped these players out ages ago and reinvested in the playing squad with the likes of Sigurdsson, Payet, Kante, Mahrez and Lennon who have all gone on to shine for other clubs. Had Mr Lerner actually been willing to invest on a few more £7-10 million players we would probably be at the very minimum a mid table team now and not about to be relegated and lose out on the £100 million TV deal.
Makes me sick to my stomach that the guy has caused this and still continues to do absolutely nothing to help the club or communicate a message to the fans. Doug Ellis wasn't perfect by any stretch of the imagination but he loved the club, invested when the club was weak, and would never have let us get to where we are today. Really wish Lerner had never come along, even if Ellis had not found another buyer. We would have been in far better shape now with Ellis running us for the last 10 years compared to the American.
Deadly got out at just the right time
He saw Lerner coming
What Villa need is for the tax payer to build them a nice new 60,000 seater stadium out at the NEC.
Then move there and sell VP.
After all, that is what West Ham have done.
That would make Villa a very attractive club for any buyer! I'd even buy it myself!!
