Yes, they are rather contradictory. These are the same fans who were bigging it up when Doughty took over (they named him Dough Boy because he is so wealthy and was going to invest so much money in the club) and getting all excited about becoming a big club again and getting back in the Prem.
They also laughed at Derby who did manage to get promotion but didn't stay up as they didn't have much money to invest, so down they came again.
Now they are suddenly skint and have an owner and board who seem to have no ambition whatsoever, it's suddenly outrageous to buy your way to promotion and they are all much more content to have average players playing mediocre football, because at least they still have their dignity.
Bless.
Very good article and the nail has been well and truly hit on the head here.
Said to all the Florist tourists on our board that they would be delighted with the sort of investment we have. But no, they insist we are a disgrace blah blah blah.
Looking forward to 'LloydX' and his comments on this when he makes his daily visit to this board. He's the Florist fan that has got himself wound up the most with our finances.
Do us a favour and actually go and fetch Lloyd from our boards
Ha ha he's not just annoying us then!
I think they are very frustrated and we are an easy target for letting off steam. And it sounds like McClaren may quit as soon as today, which isn't going to make them any happier.

Steve McLaren settling in at Nottingham Forest.
Vital Football (2nd September)
There's still no speculation on the future of manager Steve McLaren.....
What a carry on. It could easily happen here.
Another chapter to add to the hilarious comedy that is Notts Forest Football Club.
Love the headline on the Forest website as well - Steve: “I’m Going Nowhere”
Couldn't have put it better myself!!
As if to verify that my original article was spot on, a Forest fan posts this on the NEP:

.“How many clubs have won the European cup twice, the League Championship, League Cups, Fa Cups and other trophies as Forest have ?
How many other clubs can keep a fan base of 20,000 fans after 12 years outside the top flight ?
There are several things that qualify Forest as a big club, its just since Doughty took charge we have gone to the lowest of the lows.
McClaren came to Forest not for the money but because of the great history of the club, on the other hand Sven and those players who have signed for leicestr are only there for the money (nothing else).
McClaren may leave as the club are showing no ambition again (always the same under Doughty) but Forest will always be bigger than our local rivals.
"Forest will always be bigger than our local rivals."
They had a spell under Clough where they massively over achieved and they've done absolutely nothing since. Line ten Forest fans up and ask them the name of their manager before Clough and you'll be lucky if three of them know the correct answer.
And as for those European Cups, who did they beat in the finals? Barcelona? Real Madrid? Inter Milan? Liverpool? Nope, some Swedish minnows called Malmo and Hamburg the following year, which just goes to show how weak the competition was at that time.
Nothing before Clough, nothing after Clough.
Ah the staple diet of all moronic Forest fans - when the chips are down, remind the world of their successes from a generation ago. If it makes them feel better about themselves, i'll let them have it. Surely they must know though that they make themselves look utterly stupid each time they do it?
I wouldn't pay any attention to it Fox, you should see some of the cack we get written about us. Apparently we're single-handedly destroying football. Last season we even had a Spurs fan asking us if we were proud that our owners probably had the blood of British soldiers on their hands (apparently all muslims/arabs are part of the taliban).
Anything we win will be a hollow victory (get ready for that one) and any success won't be deserved or respected by other fans (when other fans pay for my ticket, then their opinion will matter to me)
Strangely enough, they have no interest in the owners signing a deal with Manchester Council to invest around £1 billion into one of the poorest areas of Manchester, or the sports facilities being built for local schools & kids; all our players are mercenaries, all theirs play for minimum wage out of love for the club.
p.s. nice to see Sven doing ok for you, I met him when he was at City, a perfect gent always had time for the fans, and I wish him all the best. Except of course if we end up playing each other next season.
Take care of Michael Johnson for us.
How 'bout some more beans, Mr Taggart (U5313)
Cheers pal. I have in-laws who are Man City supporters, so i'm fully aware of the predictable nonsense that is coming our way. Everybody has their own standpoint of course when it comes to their club spending millions (many Leicester fans for example have expressed concerns about what happens if it all goes wrong etc, just like i'm sure Man City fans have too), yet its the Forest fans that actually seem to believe that spending money is the root of all evil, and then they castigate their own club's owner for not spending money and showing ambition! The hilarious reality though is that Forest would have spent a fair amount this summer if players didn't continuously turn them down!
Good luck for the rest of the season too, i've got £20 on Man City to win the title, so don't let me down.

If Forest are such a big club, why do they get lower attendances than us? Surely a club with 'lure' would intice loads of fans to come and watch them.
In all seriousness though, A true measure of a big club is their fanbase and how many stick with them through the tough times, as well as longevity of their success. Plenty of Forest fans stuck with their team in League one, but no more (less from memory) than us.

You appear to be a rare rational Forest fan amongst the many, many morons out there. For that, welcome! In fact, I would welcome your honest view on the Forest/McClaren situation and your hopes for the season.
By the way, and for avoidance of any doubt, I do know Leicester also have a fair share of moron posters, as does every club.
FOX1884 the attitude most of the City fans I know is "enjoy it while it lasts"
I've been going since around '73, when we had a decent team. Stuck by them through several decades of cack, so I'm just enjoying the chance to watch genuine world class players as opposed to some of the dross I've seen, without the sense of entitlement (we deserve to win the league/cup because of who we are / were) that some other teams seem to have.
If it all goes belly up, well, we'll still keep going, we'll just be watching dross again & dreaming of success.
All we can do is sit back & enjoy the ride.
All the best
