I acutally think the defense has got worse this season.

Mert all over the place.
Gabrial - Just not good enough.
Even Kos has been pretty poor.

Beller in great as an attacking fullback but still needs alot of work on the defensive side of his game.

We lost Coq for 3 months and had to fend with Flamini at CM for quite some time. add in the loss of Santi our ball retention has been poor.

Cech and Ospina have been sensational. Average keeper would have Arsenal on near 50 goals conceded like Mignolet.

up till about 2008 arsenals defence was pretty good....since then im not sure whats happened...I trace it back to feb 2008 ...7 points clear at the top....then put out a weak team v man u in fa cup got mullered 4-0...then about 6 draws on the trott and blew the title.wenger seemed to lose confidence....whether it was ferguson or mourinho continually taking the xxiss out of him im not sure, but something happened to him and since then his defensive tactical abilities have been shown up a bit..somebody needs to tell him that you get 3 points for a 1-0 and 1 point for a 3-3.

So Cech is better than Ospina or nah?

I think the point is, they're both much of a muchness and the Cech signing hasn't really been the earth shattering event many trumpeted as.

cech is probobly a bit better but ospina isnt that bad...i dont think its significant in the season as a whole.Cech was better at his peak at chelsea...but neither are as good as seaman..
