"I might put something on Sky Sports saying we're trying to buy three or four of Leicester's players."
Good luck with that Brian.
In fairness, funmachine, I think this is a typical Sky Sports over-sensationalised article, most likely taken out of context. In fact, he is quoted as saying he isn't bothered what Leicester do, and why should he be. His remark about putting in offers for 3 or 4 of our players was most probably tongue-in-cheek.
He is also a Manager, who knows how the transfer window works, and also how the press work. His comment about how many players we were linked to on Wednesday wasn't necessaily a dig at Leicester either.
Just Sky trying to make something out of nothing. Who are Sky owned by again...?
Football is a business and, like it or not, the clubs have to work together. Pull a dodgy stroke and someone will do it to you, plus a bonus.
Most of the rumours flying around on deadline day and every other day are probably coming from agents. They have a vested interest (commission) in unsettling players.
Football is a multi-million pound mess and agents are happy to keep it that way.
On one hand, I can understand why Leicester have been an annoyance to him in this transfer window. Bought Mills, bid for Long, linked with Kebe, it must have got to the point where he was thinking: "Not Leicester again..."
On the other hand, he should know by now what the business is all about and that agents will use clubs with money to start unsubstantiated rumours just to get their client a better deal (as Kebe's done has twice now). So get over it, Brian.
I i was him i would think just buy the lot and get on with it.
How would we like someone taking two and then coming back trying to take our best two players GRRRR
We didn't even have an interest in Kebe, and we definitely didn't mention him on Sky.
It's quite clearly a dig if you ask me, he specifically mentioned us and what we have done, what we have mentioned.
When he says 'If that's what you are into then fine, but we choose to do things differently at Reading.' - he seems very much to be claiming the moral high ground.
And then he follows with 'hatever Leicester do is up to them.'
Sounds pretty snide to me.
Mind games do you reckon?
It's really come from nowhere because we weren't even interested in Jimmy Kebe and McDermott is a manager under pressure after a bad start and is maybe looking for a scapegoat and wants to blame us, just to take attention away from his own team's fault's. Maybe he looks on enviously at the money we've got to spend?
I can't see that we've done anything untoward in this window. We could have easily gone to town with Maynard and started praising him in public and trying to unsettle him but whenever Sven has been asked about a player, he's said 'I don't want to talk about him, he's not my player' so it's very strange from McDermott and I'm not sure what his problem's are really.
I think he should go back to David Walliams and continue being the only g a y in the village

Tord Grip came out and said you were after Kebe amongst others. I think it's more the fact that you were linked heavily and your coach says your interested and nothing happened. Why say it if you have no intention of doing anything that unsettled players.
I feel you're just unlucky because other teams have been doing it to us this summer, specifically West Ham and Sam Allerdyce, and you were just the straw that broke the camels back.
