Gotta be Vardy for me. His goals and assists have been massive.

Can you give us figures for open play goals, take of penalties please

My vote is mahrez

Ig they do hold on and win the league I don't think you can look past Vardy or Mahrez. Kante deserves to be mentioned as well

Mahrez will win player of the year I think

What's the age cut off for young player of the year, Kane and Lukaku are 22, if they're too old then you'd have to give it to Ali.

First season in the team, coming from lower divisions and becoming a key player in the team pushing for the title is huge for someone his age.

Can't edit the OP for the young player section.

Can't find any but Leicester have had 10 penalties this season compared to Man CIty in second with 6.

Looks like they paid the refs then as well as drugging up all their players.

I'd go for Payet if he'd have played all season, but the time out for injury just bumps him down the list slightly for me.

Overall in terms of effect on results etc, I think it has to be Mahrez though.

For young player, I think Alli is a shoe in.

think kane scored around 5 pens for spurs.

Got to be either Mahrez or Vardy although Payet could be in with a shout if they win the FA Cup.

Ali should be a shoe in for the young player of the year.

Ozil with 120 chances created is just mind boggling. Just a faking shame we have a clown like Giroud upfront instead of a Kane or Aguero.

This type of comment absolutely drives me crazy. Why should penalties be counted any less than open-play goals?

For a start many open-play goals require far less technique (tap-ins, close range headers, rebounds).

Then there is the mental aspect of the game. Many finishes are purely instinctive, whereas a penalty is not so much more considered. Dealing with the pressure, the tension in the crowd and the expectation of a goal is also tough.

I remember the days at Spurs when we had no good penalty takers - Defoe, Pavlyuchenko and others (Huddlestone?) seemed to keep missing them. Now we have Kane who scores them for fun I appreciate a good penalty taker.

I suggest you see sense and admit that penalty taking is in itself a skill. Should we also discount tap-ins and open goals?

Absolutely ridiculous comment, but you're not the only one who says it.

Between Mahrez and Vardy.

No one else comes into it.

N'Golo Kanté for me.

At the very least, Kante should be signing of the season.

Agree on all your points.

But, you can argue that a penalty taker could look like a better player on stats than a non penalty taker, purely for goals scored, that's why he may ask to see the figures without those tally boosting spot kicks.

For example, one team could have a centre forward whose scored 20 goals, with 7 of those being penalties.

Another player for another side could've scored 15 goals all from open play, but unfortunately for him they have another player that's equally good at penalties so he doesn't take them.

Doesn't mean player 2 isn't as good.

It's fair to compare both with penalties included, and also without imo.

Rooney for me and by an absolute mile. Became the world’s highest ever England scorer in the world this season. I think what clinches it for me though is how United have performed WITHOUT Rooney. It doesn’t take a jenious to understand that United would be lightyears ahead at the top of the Prem had Rooney been fit. So as much as you go on about Mahrez and Vardy etc, they are only where they are because Rooney has been unfit and played out of position. I think it goes to show just how good Rooney is that one of the biggest upsets in PL history occurs due to him being out.

Ranting about penalty taking aside, Vardy would be my pick

Mahrez seems to have gone missing when it really matters. Vardy broke a record, is almost top scorer, and is currently thriving despite the pressure.

Completely agree that if this is the case it could be taken into account. But Mahrez has missed penalties while Vardy and Kane have scored them. So I think that in this case it makes very little sense taking away penalties.

Yeah I would go for Vardy ahead of Mahrez, but just think Mahrez and Ali are nailed on for the awards.

Chat s*** get banged!!!!! Surely one of the Leicester boys it's got to be. Either Mahrez, Vardy or Kante but I would personally go for Vardy for his stunning 1st half of the season. Dele Ali young player of the year by a country mile.

Mahrez for me. Pure entertainment.

That's true Hafi, or be it slightly skewed.
