Why would it affect your reflexes? You don't need to save balls with your teeth.

I'd be thinking about choking on my gum.
I may be wrong, I'll try it in a pre season friendly.
Say a striker takes a snapshot. Can a keeper set himself and stop chewing as quickly as possible?
As I said maybe I'm wrong but it's just odd

Maybe he can still chew it while saving?
Maybe he's a grown up in control of his body.

Fack me. Do you still have to get your mummy to cut your food up?
He is going to be bored today SLM. It will give him something to do.
I thought SAF was a tad disrespectful as he chewed gum throughout the 50th anniversary Munich minutes silence
Joey
How on earth is that being disrespectful?
Had he have been chatting away you will have a point to score on.
Is this a serious article?
I've often wondered how players go about breathing/blinking during a game.
To breathe, blink AND chew gum whilst playing is nothing short of a miracle.
Good article.

Because it's rude to chew gum. Would you chew it in an interview?
Can't understand why the OP is getting grief for asking this question. I wouldn't want to chew while I was doing anything that might get me out of breath or where I have to move around a lot.
Even if I am a grown-up in control of my own body and I don't need my food cutting up.
I remember doing an experiment back in high school which showed chewing gum improved reaction time.
Yeah the swallowing thing is relevant.
The stuff about reflexes is dogshiiiit
Some idiot who does the betting on Sporting Life reckoned Stoke would cause an upset today.
He was right. They are upsetting me.

Is that what you told your teacher when you were caught chewing in the classroom

That's the thing. I would always be worried about choking. I wouldn't want anything in my mouth while I was leaping around.
