Nowhere near good enough to be mentioned with those names. He had a good game, but one swallow does not a summer make.
Pretty sure the Regista's role consists more than just the ability to ping cross field balls.
Blind actually does it quite often already in defence, but I've personally always felt he lacks the positional play and quickness of mind and feet to play the role to a good enough level. Happy to see him try though.
I didn't say he's as good as the players mentioned but switching play he's on par with them I would say.
There is nothing Rooney does that reminds me of Scholes.
Scholes could trap a football because he knew where he wanted to go with it next and knew were all the players were, as the ball was coming to him.
Wazza still doesn't know this until he has already lost the ball.
This Utd team with scholes i would guarantee we would have score many goals. By the time the ball goes from right side to left opposition players have positioned themselves. Someone like Scholes in midfield our wingers won't be contained and will have enough space to run at opposition players
Rooney isnt creative nor has the intelligence or talent to be a attacking midfielder.
Man U should play Rooney up top with Rasford
De Gea
Mensah Smalling Rojo LB
Mata Schneiderlin Carrick Martial
Rooney Rashford
I'd ideally want to play someone who scores lots of goals up front.
Rooney is Man U's top scorer isn't he? Maybe 2nd, but he's in the top 2.

What kind of crazy sh/t logic is this ?
Rooney's crossfield passes are average. They often end up going out of play or to the opposition.
Nowhere near Scholes.
That doesn't really make it acceptable, he's been our primary striker for the vast majority of the season so I'd hope he was our top scorer. He's not been good enough as a lead striker for around 3 years now.
He's currently the PL's joint 27th top goal scorer along side players such as Tadic, Rondon and Bojan.
Woah, really? I thought he'd scored like 15 goals.
I would seriously consider offloading the scouser in the summer.Great player for us no doubt but his time, like every player,is so clearly up at the top,top level.

So you're saying you'd give him a chance?
What players do you think are out there where they passing is like Scholes?
Iniesta, Pirlo, Alonso, modric, Kroos, Gerrard, Cesc etc.

He'll never be as good as Scholesy but people saying he's not creative should look at the players with the most PL assists over last 5 years. He's right up there.
He played two gorgeous through balls at the weekend too.
He's nowhere near as bad as people try and make out on here. Still important player for us, just not as important as he once was.
Seeing as STs and CMs need to be some of the most important players in a side I think it's vitally important if Rooney can still be important for the team if playing either role. If he can't then you have to think whether he is deserving of a role.
Rooney has a few half decent games in midfield and gets compared to Scholes. Same thing happened last season. Rooney isn't in Scholes league as a midfielder. He's not the solution short or long term and with the interest in Renato thankfully the club realise this too.
