Well said Knotty
Let's now hope that criminal proceedings will follow rather more swiftly.
It's a shame Anne Williams didn't live to see this day. I doubt it would have happened without her. The lies and coverup should never be forgotten, and not just in Liverpool.
Well said Knotty
I'm heading down that way after work.

It is sad that Anne never got to see this day.
Im not sure what I feel...as i've said earlier I feel relieved and not afraid to admit I watched with tears in my eyes the coverage earlier today...
Im not currently angry as I know others are, but suspect that will come soon enough.

Melancholy is probably the most natural reaction to news like this, there is just so much to process.

It's saddening that such a cover up can take place, let's hope nothing like this is allowed to happen again.
RIP to those who lost their lives, hopefully this can give the families a little closure.
You have to admire the lengths they have gone to and the solidarity shown.
27 years ordinary, grieving people have fought for justice against successive governments and their allied mechanisms and institutions of power. Finally they have won.
These ordinary people are heroes, and their efforts should be held up as a monumental achievement.
What an incredible day this is.
Its most important to say the truth is there at last. I would hope that some people can stop abusing it now as we have seen very recently.
I think that those who stuck at this for 27 years and those who died without justice have a courage that i cannot begin to comprehend.
Total respect to the Campaigners who throughout the 27 years have showed nothing but dignity in seeking truth and Justice.

Lovely words Knotty
It's just a shame that despite cover ups like this being exposed a majority of English voters still feel that we are best governed by Tory governments, and millions of people still buy tabloid trash like The S**m.
I'm no thatcher fan bit I would add that there's no evidence she personally lied. Sadly she would have been taking the word of senior police officials who did. There is a big difference there
I personally think that is extremely naive Blackstarr.
Thatchers own press secretary and friend Bernard Ingham wrote a disgraceful letter to victims families that is freely available online.
Thatcher was well aware of SYP's tactics and exploited them for her own ends in the Miners strikes years earlier.
Thatcher knew what was going on. Of course I can't prove it, but there is no doubt in my mind.
When the truth started coming out Thatcher should have stopped to think first. It was her responsibility to be above it all but she Did she ever express any remorse in her lifetime? Did she ever entertain the notion that perhaps it wasn't true? Did she not stick to her guns even as he tide turned and information came out? Her leadership in this incident was a joke.
Its difficult to know but I don't like people making factual sounding statements when the evidence isn't there. She may have shown poor leadership, she may have plaed absolute trust in syp but that's not the same as lying to the public and families and being part of the coverup.
Nothing is proven in that respect and until it is I don't think she should be branded in that way

The police were just doing what they were told to do during the strike. I now work for a company that was on the site of the coke plant at Orgreave and some of the older guys remember those few days.
Police were told lies, Scargill took miners out on a national strike without the full backing needed.
Police were told to bust a strike that wasn't really backed and fully voted for, all on Thatchers governments orders. She is a nasty bit of work.
