Can Admin explain how to control threads?

If you get the one match ban feature enabled, you can ban the troublemakers from just that thread without filtering them. So it leaves just the serious posters on your thread. You also need to be there to moderate your article. You can't run off for a nap and expect there to be no carnage if it's a controversial thread.

surely, if there's carnage, that's why we have moderators? And if someone seriously steps over the line, they can ban them.

But there are only two moderators to my knowledge. Can't expect them to babysit people on every thread.

I wouldn't expect admin to babysit threads and the author of a thread shouldn't be expected to either.

You find someone derailing the thread, then you delete them in the same way admin delete a comment. You don't shoot the messenger and basically give the derailer what they want by closing the thread.

The cricket board is pretty terrible, tbf. I would imagine it is hard to moderate without mass bannings, especially the Pakistani and Indian fans.
I would guess the Admins were getting complaints, as I am sure they don't moniter threads that often without them.
I think maybe they felt you were a protagonist in some of the hostilities. Maybe some of the bans you handed out were lacking in solid justification and based on personal bias. As a thread that was meant as an all inclusive companion to a world cup, maybe they felt you were not managing it properly.

DJ, on that thread I think I mainly deleted one consistent derailer. But the thread had been fine for a while before he got going.

The funny thing is, plenty wanted to comment on the thread I started but off topic, and then filtered me from the thread they started up. Is filtering worse than deleting? Filtering isn't 'all inclusive'.

Anyways, shame that admin don't even make a contribution here.

Your generalization that cricket board is terrible then what contribution you do here? Any suggestions?

Again you broadly said that Pakistani and Indians are the worst but tend to ignore the rest? On what basis did you conclude that? Have you send English posters here talking crap about India or its players really in a very demeaning manner.

Let me just clarify even I don't have too, majority on this board are English & Pakistani posters. Indians are lot fewer compared to them. Posters like Kav, Viru, etc bring lot of positive stuff info here. I'm not perfect but mine are always in retaliation to insult. I don't condone that's the fact about me. I don't generalize folks from a specific background nor I start any b*llsh**t. In fact I may enjoy little banter as long as it's within the limit. I started two threads here recently and you can see yourself. If you are so concerned then I why not indulge in healthy cricket debate instead of doing nothing.

I am just responding respectfully to your statement and I have no intention to hurting your feelings if I did by mistake..

Oh yeah, that's right - it wasn't live so the 1 match ban wasn't active.
My conclusion is that it is near impossible to have an all inclusive thread on the cricket board. Passions and rivalry just seem to go beyond acceptability too much.
The thread I commented mostly on was the dream team thread, which was good at the start because the banter was mainly about the dream team. When it became a world cup thread it pretty much went to crap.

Dunno, facty, for some reason you come across as a bit precious.Had a look at your two articles (bit late to comment on T20 one and nothing really to say about the other) and noticed you pretty much ended them with a moan about 1 stars and your "fans".

On another note, the article in question here I believe is the world cup one. The OP in that put the thread was to be free of 'petty bickering' between Pakistan and India fans. Suggests it is not me alone who sees this - and it also came up a lot in all the threads i have participated in on the cricket forum over the last 5 years.
Again I wonder if your defensiveness blinds you from the provocative comments by your peers, as you seem to see it as one sided.

Tbh I was only trying to give some insight for the OP from someone who does threads with a lot of rival fans and banter that sometimes crosses JA rules.

And facty is probably one of the more reasonable posters.

The only time those fans seem to see eye to eye is when they want to bully others.

Thanks U2..

@Jeezus,

My comment regarding 1*star rating was a mere joke pal. As you know posters like Serial here are amazing huh! But you seemed to ignore that and only focus on Indians or Pakistanis. Overall, I love cricket and respect all fans from different countries as long as they are cool. I learned from childhood by my parents that always be open minded but you seem to know more about me

I gave specific examples where as you are just vague in your comments. Can you try to be specific? Why ignore majority posters who write crap here?

Also if you have nothing to write about Salman Butt playing again in England so there shows your input here in cricket. If you seem to care about cricket thread then why not start a thread about recent issues. I will definitely give my input unless like you who just moans behind his computer lol!

facty, i got bored by the juvenile talk and pranks of (mostly) sub-continent posters and serial.

They now have their own thread to talk chit.

Also U2,

If you noticed here recently, posters here tend to make groups and only write in their articles. At the end of day, we all love cricket so why act so childish.. We all should unite and if we differ that's good for debate as long as it's done respectfully. We don't have much posters here in cricket so it will be better to get along and enjoy this amazing game.

I know of the groups and I have been far too lenient on afraidi in the past for comments that went way too far.

Let the kids play.

I had a thread about the London mayor closed yesterday. God knows why. (No it isn't football related but many aren't. Maybe it's because the guy is a Muslim. Can't imagine a Boris Johnson thread being closed down.
