I think he's had a good career. But not in the top league of managers. Sacked by Barca, Bayern, Holland and possibly united this summer.
Refused to evolve as a manager in a newer era of football. His highs were mainly at Ajax with a few decent spells then after
I like the bloke, despite him being as mad as a hatter and not wanting him to be our manager next season, i think his interviews are honest, he doesn't hide from questions, badmouth other managers or blame the ref for every decision that goes against us
That said, i hope jose takes over in the summer
He's won title in Germany, Spain and Holland as well as the champions League. I think that to many managers would represent a fantastic career.
He's not been without controvery and lunacy but he's got the medals to show for it. He might add the famous old trophy to his haul as yet too.
I want him gone this summer but I want him to leave on a high.
he was a top, top manager in the 90s
since then he's got jobs because he was a 'name' but was always run out of town by angry supporters because he made a mess. sure he won trophies, but he was at clubs that it was impossible not to pick some medals
I think he's clinically slightly bonkers as well which makes for good entertainment at press conferences
You're not far off there kaisers. However your manager wasn't far off front of queue when craziness was handed out. He's bonkers too.
LvG goes down as one of the greatest managers of all time regardless of how things end with us... Not even worth deliberation!
A few decent spells? Good grief a bit better than that I think.
Agree 82 win the cup and leave with head high.
After all in two seasons he will have got us from 7th to 4th and if he does get the cup he will be a winner. Plus he will leave a lot of good youngsters.
I like him, think he is straight as a die stubborn as a mule. I don't think his ideas are out of date the game is the same , but don't think it is right for us.
vG has made it perfectly clear... he's intending staying next season to finish his job/contract. Ed will have to sack him if he has to go to make way for someone else
what part of this don't you understand?

btw I think Ed will sack him when its mathematically impossible to get 4th...and it will be very messy.
I also think that United will offer the job to Jose if they do..if he still wants it...not sure that he actually does
frustrating thing about today...City cant buy a win and yet we showed not determination and passion on the pitch against a mediocre side today to keep winning to keep pressure on them.
we will now just run out of games
Sadly so. Hopefully if/when Jose comes we get some spirit back in our play
I'm getting the feeling that Van Gaal is going to stay on, fourth or no fourth.

Me too, purely down to the fact we've got complete spacktards running the club.
Hid he doesn't hit top 4 he's gone.
I reckon he's saying it to take pressure off the players, keep them focused for League and Cup. Imagine if he kept schtum and we finished 5th but still had the cup. Could hamper preparations.
Better the players think he's there no matter what IMO.
@ The Kaiser's trainers
Don't agree with your view on van Gaal re his career after the 90's. The achievement he is most proud of himself, is winning the Dutch league in 2008/09 with AZ Alkmaar, a small football club in Holland. An achievement coming close to Leicester winning the PL.
And taking this crap Dutch national team to 3rd place at the WC was also impressive.

No it wasn't, Steve McLaren had won the league with Twente the season before. The big 3 at the time were nowhere near the level of previous seasons.

He has a poor taste in restaurants.
His favourite place is Wings, and they serve testicals.
Of all the places to eat, he goes to the ball farm.

First of all, Steve McLaren won the league the season AFTER, not before. And the Ajax team of 2008-2009 had Huntelaar, Suarez, Stekelenburg, Vertonghen, Vernon Anita, Gregory vd Wiel, Thomas Vermaelen and Toby Alderweireld to name a few, and was NOT a crap team at the time.
