The problem with the Liverpool lot on here is that they can't discuss the here and now without throwing in a bit of history. The fact that they have won the league and European Cup x number of times will not change the current table. I believe that is 6 higher finishes in 7 seasons and as thats the real barometer as to where you're at we must go by that. Luckily the Scousers I know socially are more comfortable with telling it how it is.

Finishing above you every season in the PRESENT?
You are thethat keeps on giving
----------------------------------------------------------------------
How will you fit the 'finished above Liverpool' trophy in the cabinet?
Oh hang on there's plenty of room.
The last time Spurs went on an open top bus orange it was on this:

You can sort of excuse Liverpool seeing as the league is dead for them and so only need to focus on Europa. City still have a top 4 race and a squad full of top players. I suppose it is the effect of knowing a new manager is coming in.

Liverpool had their bus and town hall booked for a right old shindig
Then Stevie G fell over
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Has a player ever damaged his legacy more than that?

Spurs' players had a good crack at damaging their legacy on Monday.
Let a two goal lead slip, realised they'd bottled Spurs' first title challenge in over 50 years, decided they were in a Jackie Chan film

I do believe you have just made that up.
I'm happy to discuss Liverpool getting to finals and possible winning trophies if you'd like.

We have a European semi final tonight. I would love it if we won that trophy!
Going to be very tough but you never know!
Unfortunately for Gerrard he's always going to be connected with the slip. It may even be what he's best known for when people look back on him. Tarnished his legacy.
Aren't Spurs fans on about finishing above us 6 out of the last 7 years (history) and their title challenge next year?

Yeah we've forgotten him winning our 5th European Cup and all the other trophies he's won.
Spurs players on the other hand?
It's a shame cause I do think he's a quality player, and that would have stuck even more and beyond had he gone on to lift that trophy. Now I feel he's quite overrated.

We shall see. He'll probably start by going on to do more than Gerrard ever did at an international tournament this summer.
Steven Gerrard is genuinely my hero as naff as that sounds. In fact if my daughter had been born properly as a biy then her middle name would be Gerrard.
Guy's a legend and I really don't care about that slip. Tbh I tend to give City credit for rinsing the final part of the season. They were excellent.
