"Albeit, in context, this side is only a point better off than Tim Sherwood's 6th placed side of 13/14"
I didn't know that. Worrying!
Yeah, we need a bit of experience, even for the dressing room if nothing else. Someone like the Edgar Davids signing.
If we had another top striker (and no I don't mean saido facking berahino) and a really top CM, I think we'll put in a much better challenge next year.
Don't think we need much, but you're right we need genuine class and not squad signings.
Comparing points total between seasons is, well... pointless. You aren't playing the same opponents every season, with the same line up and the same performance to judge it fairly.
Otherwise, I agree we need some experience but then again they've gained that this season from failing to win the title. They will be better off for it.
Pochettino not winning anything is irrelevant. He's managed Espanyol and Southampton.. What did you expect really?

I think experience winning trophies is experience, even if its at a low level.
If you look at every manager who's ever won the Premier League, they've all had experience winning trophies somewhere before at some point in their career. It helps, because its not a complete novelty for you, and you'll have an inkling as to what it takes. That confidence and experience surely resonates with players.
Yeah of course. We do have trophy winners in the club though and off the top of my head Alderweireld, Vertonghen, Dembele, Eriksen have all won league titles before. Lloris and Son probably have the FA Cup equivolent to their name.
I think another top four and a real go at the FA Cup should be our priority next season. Obviously if we are in this position again then go for the title (should from the start anyway) but would be happy with top four because it helps build the team and attract players to then really compete. Right now we have a very good 11 and tend to drop points if we miss a couple.
Wanyama - Batshurya - Umitti - plus a fast left winger we have Dominic Ball - Alex Pritchard coming back added to Onomoah, Carter-Vickers - Winks so they should be used for Cup Competitions to keep our squad fresh for the PL & CL.
I said last week that signing a Carrick or an Alonso on a short term 1-2 year deal would be ideal for this young squad. Not necessarily to be regular starters but to be able to bring off the bench to manage the game out.
Spurs could use a centre half, centre mid, winger/attacking mid and a striker.
CB: Samuel Umtiti is a good shout. He's a powerful young LCB who would definitely provide stern competition for Vertonghen and overtake him within a couple of years.
CM: Axel Witsel is the obvious choice. He's about as close to the Dembele mould as you'll find - strong, technical box-to-boxer - and Belgian to boot.
Winger: I saw Lorenzo Insigne mentioned elsewhere on the forum and think he'd be a superb signing. He's rapid, direct and creative and has a stonking shot from range - all things Spurs sorely miss. Right-footer who's best coming in off the left, so would fit Spurs' system nicely. Would definitely need fitness coaching though coming from Serie A, I should think.
Striker: Alexandre Lacazette and Michy Batshuayi have both been heavily linked, and for good reason. Both drift from the number 9 position off to the left flank like Henry; I think that'd dovetail beautifully with Alli's runs from deep and an Insigne-style winger making runs in behind.
Get rid of Carroll, Mason, Chadli and Fazio, for a combined £20m or so... trouble is, the above four new arrivals would probably cost a combined £80m or so, so I doubt they're realistically within budget.
Lloris/Vorm
Walker/Trippier
Alderweireld/Wimmer
Vertonghen/Umtiti
Rose/Davies
Witsel/Dier
Dembele/Bentaleb
Eriksen/N'Jie
Alli/Lamela
Insigne/Son
Kane/Lacazette/Batshuayi
That looks like a top squad to me
