"Rooney is the closest thing to Messi right now for sure."

Bulgaria were utter guff.

Its all well and good england beating these teams but when it comes to the serious stuff in the actual tournaments then we stink the place out

These internationals are so boring and players get overhyped after scoring against extremely weak teams. Rooney like Messi, LMAO

England weren't even that good, it was such a boring game. Like any England game.

Rooney the closest thing to messi right now

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Cristiano '55 goals last season (more than messi)' Ronaldo might have something to say about that.

In fact, pretty much everyone would. Rooney is MILES behind.

I saw it. Bulgaria looked almost as bad as us against Utd.

i slept through the game

I mean right now, the current form rooney is in he's unstoppable. He's putting the ball where he wants it and when.

And yes bulgaria were poor, but for once england seemed to link up quite well. With Wilshere, it will go to a whole new level. Oh and maybe Gerrard if he's up for it.

This article is a freaking joke.

Ronaldo is the next best thing to Messi, you may not have noticed he scored 55 goals last year and smashed the La Liga goalscoring record, something even Messi did not. Rooney isn't in the same league. Get your head together you mug.

As for Gary Cahill, give me a break. We got a much better player for half the price in Mertesacker.

STOP REGURGITATING WHAT YOU READ IN THE MEDIA. THINK FOR YOURSELF.

Ronaldo scored a hat-trick on the first day of this season's La Liga. He's in better form. And so is Fabregas who has scored as many goals as Rooney from midfield for Barca and Spain.

Fair enough, ronaldo's goal scoring record is untouchable.
But when it comes to the big game against Barca, he very much so dissapears.

For most of the game Bulgaria had more possession than us...

Cut out the abuse Arsene lttle grey cells, but apart from that, i agree with you

Its just my opinion ALGC, no need to get all angry about it.

I dont base my opinion on goals, i base it on how i think players effect games. All games. And Rooney does exactly that.

Ronaldo has scored however many goals in a seriously sub-average Spanish League, where outside of the top 2 there is not much quality at all. Where as the Premiership there is quality throughout, and even more so this season.

So we will have to have this discussion at the end of the season i suppose. But currently, you cannot deny that Rooney is on fire!

ronaldo bangs in hat trick against poo teams in la liga.there's such a distance between barca and the rest it's a joke. great player but with the league he's playing in he can take his flat track bullying to a whole new level.

Great first half performance from the lad's but didn't like it when they took their feet off the pedal somewhat in the second.

We need to try and keep our attacking tempo going and not get complacent.

COME ON ENGLAND !!!

Rooney is not even the best striker in the league, never mind being close to Messi

Great to see OP that you are not sucking lemons or drinking vinegar over the Gary Cahill thing.

I think it's safe to say, when on top form, that Rooney is the best English striker in this league, as is Messi in his. Hard to compare.

Best for me was that Capello lived uo to his original promise that he would pick players on form and that the boring "old guard" got a shut out.

I think the long awaited revolution has started

Robin van Persie scored 4, J.Y.Park got a hat-trick. These two looked close to Messi yesterday!!!!!!
