Yes I've been meaning to raise this issue. The pub threads are killing the site absolutely. It all started with DJs Live Football thread which killed off match threads on most boards and reduced the participation in others. I warned admin about it.

Disagree.
Match threads tend to see lots of people banned for supporting another team. There are also many, many games they do not have match threads.
When a Liverpool, Arsenal, United, Spurs game is on their match threads get far, far more traffic than the Football Live thread - which tends to be limited to fans banned (or knowing they will get banned) from the team match thread.


Now this could be a particularly important issue next month. I do not see the Football Live thread as the main match thread for England games. I expect someone to create and run a specific thread for each game - and all big games. However, if people want to comment on the Football Live thread then they are free to. I will still update the fixtures - although I think commenting will be limited due to the expected specific threads. Lesser games between the likes of Albania and Iceland may not get a match thread made, so there is always a fall back option.

As for other long threads - if you read them they are not the sort of discussions that really belong on a football thread.

Personally I think the inter-board wars have caused more of an issue. TBOK created the Arsenal Thread simply because at the time the Arsenal board was just full of Celtic, Liverpool, Spurs, Chelsea and 'fake' Arsenal WUMs, and the articles were pretty much all the same, the discussions always ended at the same place.

You see this is the reason why these "long threads" are becoming more popular.

It's not exclusive to Liverpool or anything it's a site wide issue.

Generally Ja goes like this, someone posts something and is 1) accused of Wumming or 2) accused of that dreaded "Bite"

The lack of real debate is the actual issue, if all people want to do is, for example, call Liverpool fans victims then that get's pretty tiresome quite quickly, so Liverpool fans will go to the tranny thread for some peace.

Same for Chelsea fans who are bored of being called glory hunters, Arsenal fans for being called childish or whatever.

Like look at the hack of the comment I've copied inthsi post, says it all, what the F has a victim complex got to do with the original comment, if you have to deal with m0000ngs like this then you can see why people will revert to a thread where this lad can't comment.

To caveat I am just as guilty as anyone of wumming from time to time, although I can safely say I avoid anything like the victim agenda thrown at Liverpool fans cause unlike MTC I actually understand the back handed meaning to that
