Lukaku or morata???

Morata has the higher ceiling. Lukaku is less of a gamble. Hard to say really. Do you want the fabled world class striker or the very good but not world beating striker?

Lukaku is an upgrade to what we have, he big strong and can finish. I can see us challenging with him in the team.

Think Giroud will still be Arsenal's CF next season.

Welbeck is out for the season, it would be negligence of the highest order once again from Wenger if he didn't add in this position

I've come to expert negligence from our manager.

Don't be suprised whatsoever if Giroud is still our number one this season.

Wenger now seems obsessed with the tall big striker rather than the quick mobile one

Wenger started last season with only 2 center backs and one striker this one. It wouldn't be a surprise if he doesn't sign a striker .

Nah, Wenger will certainly get a ST this season..I wonder who its going to be.

Sanogo anyone?

Hopefully its someone exciting. Between Lukaku or Moarta, currently Lukaku is ahead but both could do tremendously well upfront for Arsenal

Lukaku easily, proven goal scorer in the premier league. Averaged about a goal every 2 games playing for a shambles of an everton team and a relegation threatened west brom. I havent seen as much of morata obviously but if juse want 30 odd million id pass. Hes only got 6/7 goals this season and other than a few good goals on the way to the final last year i dont think hes really been that great in italy.

Lukaku all day long if it were a choice between the two

I'd prefer morata. Don't enjoy watching lukaku play.

Sorry boys you're going to have to pay a lot more than £40m for Lukaku.

Not sure what the fuss about Morata is. Just one of those cases of an absurdly overrated fancy foreign name. He has a hell of a long way to go and a hell of a lot to prove. I'd take a chance on him for thereabouts 16m pounds or so, but for the quoted 40 to 50 mill, I'd say fack off.

Lukaku all day long.

11 goals in 46 appearances this season and 1 international goal in 8 appearances just isn't worth the 50m hype hype about Morata. I'd rather pay that amount for Dybala who is a better player by absolute miles - and younger too.

Lukaku's touch is disgraceful man

Weren't a lot of those morata apps as a sub?

I agree he's definitely overpriced though.

Morata scores in the cup final, 1-0.

Lukaku had a goal per every 176 minutes played compared to Giroud with a goal for every 152 minutes. Both had 6 assists. We need someone better.

OP I find this article ultimately frustrating because I think that every Gooner is in agreement that we need a world class striker and then you mention Lukaku and Morata....What? These two players have had a worse season that Giroud, a player I should remind you that we have been getting on his back for not performing. Wenger has already said that he is keeping Giroud why would we need to get another player that in stature and in style is similar to Giroud (and evidently not as good)? Wake up guys, where is your ambition? We need a clinical goal scorer.

Only player better is Aubamayang and we aren't spending £50 plus million on him. Ibrahimovic would be a good gamble as let's face it he's still WC and could do it for a season or 2.

No point mentioning Dybala as Juve are not going to sell him and I doubt he would want to leave after one season.

Lyon rejected a £30 Mil bid for Lacazzete so I'm not sure we would go higher that £40 for him. He doesn't look like he's that good with Newcastle and now WH looking at him.

Lukaku scored 25 goals how many did Giroud score?

posted on 22/5/16

Giroud got 24.

Someone better than Giroud is obviously preferable, but i'd be happy with someone of similar ability to share the burden over a whole season, as long as they are quicker.

We won't be going in for Lukaku that's for sure. Marata was linked to us on loan a while back, so I can see there being some legs on this one.

Thing is no one is saying he's crap that's not worth signing. The issue is no one with his scoring record who plays second fiddle to the likes of Mandzukic should be getting peddled around for insane money like £40m to £50m. Juve who own him and Madrid who have a buyout clause are more interested in what they can get for his overrated arrrse than his actual value as a footballer and they know there are many suckers sniffing around.

We have a fair few holes to fill in the squad and a limited budget. I'd prefer we save insane money for insane talent. If we were talking of Dybala in Juve for £40m, then I'm all for it.
