This has got Torres to Chelsea written all over it
From a financial point of view £1million to £22million sounds like an excellent bit of business. That would basically cover the full cost of Musa who at 23 has a number of seasons on Vardy. Okay he's still a gamble but I trust Walsh. I also hope the club don't panic and give in to increased wage demands they should stand their ground and show no one player is bigger than the sum of the teams parts at Leicester.
From a supporters point of view I would be very sad to see him leave because I will be forever grateful for what he achieved with the team last season. This team has basically secured the future of Leicester for many years to come, but it will always have been a team effort.
From a footballing point of view it would be a poor move for Vardy. Yes, Arsenal are the bigger club there is no denying that. Which also means they won't build a team round his strengths. Arsenal play possession football that builds to the edge of the area before making that final ball. Which basically renders Vardy's pace and playing off the last man useless. As we have seen during the England games. He will also have to win over a whole new set of supporters, and without meaning to cause offence, Arsenal fans would never accept the lad who used to work in a factory and played non league football, that sort of player is beneath North London supporters.
Finally the whole move just sounds like a Wenger unsettling trick, very similar to the £40million + £1 stunt he tried. That worked well.

Why would he leave a side where he is a perfect fit, making absolutely the very best of his talents, where he has already achieved the impossible dream and has the attractive prospect of playing with this team in the Champions league next season? Why would he go to a side which is on the face of it, about as bad a fit as one could imagine? Its inconceivable that Wenger is going to tear up his play book in his last year and remodel his team to suit Vardy - isn't it?
Apart from the wonga theories leading one to surmise he really wants to stay but with the very best pay deal, at 29 he has one big move left, maybe 2 or 3 years to go before the inevitable diminution of his greatest asset, pace; just one unfortunate injury away from that happening sooner. Why wouldn't he take the opportunity to see if he can cut it at a really big club? Time isn't on his side.
If I were a Gunners fan, I would be thinking Wenger has lost the plot. It's difficult to see how Vardy fits into the possession based football of his team. Or is it a cunning plan to change to a more defensive, counter-attacking style of play in a desperate attempt to land a final championship before retiring?
Interesting times.
Makes me laugh how some bitter plastic fans call our football hoof ball still (clearly their football knowledge is attained from playing Fifa). If Vardy leaves then so be it, if he stays then great, but I doubt very much that he'll have the sort of season as he's just had again.
When Vardy moves Kante and Mahrez are going to be unhappy with the situation and leave too. Depending on who Leicester sign after they leave, there could be relegation on the cards.
Doubt it'll be relegation. They have two young exceptional talents they signed last season in January that didn't feature much in amartey and demarai Gray who will be more prominent this season. And they've signed zeiler who will push schmeichel very hard for the number 1 jersey, and if they can land a quality player to replace vardy then they will be fine.
Of the three I'd say vardy is the most expendable. So long as Leicester can show mahrez and kante they are willing to splash the cash and show ambition I think there's a good chance they will stay.

Those two definitely have potential but if you take the three best players from any side away they're gonna struggle and more so if the other players aren't near their quality. The year after we finished second we had our two best players missing, one sold and one injured, whilst our third was older and not as effective. We struggled. Those three were vital to the way we played. We didn't have the second best squad in the league but we had players who worked well in the system we played, like Leicester.
It will all depend on the replacements for me but I would, depending on the odds which should be good considering they won the league, be open to putting a bet on them getting relegated if they lose those three.
Some Liverpool fans seem incredibly bitter about Leicester. Just because we won the league before you, and our players have a winners medal, something Stevie G will never have
The notion that, even without Vardy, we'll somehow slip below Bournemouth, Watford, West Brom, Sunderland and the promoted teams is a fantasy.
And even if we lost all three, we'd have about £70m in the bank with an excellent scouting system to find replacements and the added bonus of Champions League football to attract players.
I get that toor, but as I said if Leicester can point to targets they're actively trying to recruit that are of a high quality and are making headway on them, then I don't see why mahrez and kante would both up and leave.
Obviously that will change if an offer for real, Barca, Bayern or PSG comes in. But I personally think they'll be fine.
From a betting point of view it's absolutely worth a tenner. Just the same as I'll be putting some money on Stoke to win the league or finish top four, certainly worth it after Leicester just showed the long shot can come in sometimes.
If this is Vardy angling for more cash, then let him go. He's paid handsomely and is not worth a penny more in my opinion.
Musa would be an ideal replacement.
A move to Arsenal would be terrible for Vardy and he'd turn in to the player Woy is making him at England. Liverpool I'd understand.
As much as I love Vardy for this season, he's not good enough to hold us to ransom. He is our top paid player, if he wants any more, let him leave.
i can't see him wanting to move personally, but hey, if he does, I don't actually see it as that big a loss.
The more I think about this the more I'm convinced that ace is right. While an increase of wages (likely a variation to the contract just signed?) would be great for the player and the agent - you have to think that the better deal for both is in a transfer.
Leicester will have been expecting this, perhaps not quite so soon, but it's a very low release clause (in terms of what clubs can afford) so it was always going to be met if a club perceived him to worth going for
I agree with Mersey here. Let him go. When we smashed 4 past Swansea we didn't look like we missed him that much, same when we created a number of chances at old Trafford.
I'm not saying he isn't a pivotal player for us - but I actually think Mahrez would be much harder to replace. There are other top quality strikers out there who work hard, press from the front and can finish - musa being one of them.
While he won't be replaceable as a like for like and in many ways is unique, we can adapt, we can bring more quality in and we can tweak the way we play. Southampton have done it.
What I will say is this - for a player to come out and state his loyalty to the club on two occasions before engineering a move is a disgrace. He should have at least not nailed his blue colours to the mast and been non committal when asked about his future.
If he does leave it will leave a sour taste

Does it really make any difference if he is non committal or not? Either way he leaves. Footballers will say whatever they think people want to hear, it's all noise.
I still think it could be a scenario whereby Vardy is happy to stay but his agent is pushing him out there for a move. Agents make an obscene amount of money out of transfer fees and it wouldn't be surprising if he is trying to force through a move so he can make himself an easy couple of million.

True blue - obviously I'm talking about if the player leaves which is by no means a certainty. I wouldn't cast him as a judas either but it would leave a bitter taste
Tiddles - in a sense you are right it doesn't matter and there isn't much loyalty in football. However when you read what he's actually said over the past 3 months about his future it doesn't make sense.
He's given assurances to the fans time and again whereas to be fair to Kante he has always been completely non commital. To tell the fans that you want to reward Leicesters faith in you by staying at the club for the long term, to come out to the media and say 'why would I leave?' - I just don't understand why he would say that if his intention was to find a bigger club all along.
His representatives negotiated that clause in for a reason - ace is right. So why lead the fans down the garden path with assurances you are going to stay? It just makes no sense to me and of course it's going to leave a bad taste.
Leicester are the current PL champions.
Arsenal haven't won the PL in 13 years, why would Vardy want to step down?
Leicester could probably match whatever Arsenak offer as well

So that he doesn't have to keep fielding questions about his future. You can bet if he refused to comment to Leicester everytime any reporter got within ten feet of him it would be about whether or not he was staying.
Not saying it's the right thing to do at all, but that'll be why he's done it.
Yeah I can see that tiddles but from memory -
RVP never committed his future publicly to Arsenal in the weeks before he moved to United. On the contrary he made noises about being unhappy with the ambitions of the club
Bale didn't come out and say he was going to stay with Spurs in the months before Real Madrid came for him - he was just non commital
Mahrez has played it the same way - saying he is happy but also saying you never know.
Infact I can't think of many situations where a high profile player has signed a new deal, said he wants to repay the faith shown in him by the club by staying for the long ball while at the same time negotiating a facking release clause while his agent Hawks him around to all the top clubs
In an age of complete disloyalty in football this still has to be up there as one of the worst examples
