Newbiefarcking auto correct. Anthony beevor on Stalingrad is the one to look out for
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I have read that and it is fantastic.
Britain defended herself admirably in the early years of the war. We stood alone, on the brink of defeat after France had fallen. Russia and the USA were yet to enter the war. So I do not think Britain's efforts can be overlooked. However we were hugely fortunate to be an island nation - not a chance we could have repelled the Na zis had it been a land invasion (ie if we were attached to mainland Europe)
Cannot believe the word Na zis is banned

Went from a GB political rant to a very interesting conversation fair play chaps
The English channel was the main thing that prevented us being occupied. Fortunes on the western front changed because Germany was being bled dry in the East
----------------------------------------------------------------------
There was a little more to it than that. Curiously, Hitler was only half-hearted about occupying Britain; despite the strenuous appeals from the likes of Goering and Erich Raeder to push forward with Operation Sea Lion at the earliest opportunity, Hitler kept making excuses to not go ahead with it.
He was convinced that a peace could be made with Britain; one which allowed Britain to surrender, but without humiliating "herself".
He had a lot of respect for Britain's achievements over the years and not quite the same hatred he had for lots of other people.
That said I think it was far more to do with lack of ability to carry out an invasion than lack of will, without the kind of superiority the allies had in the skies and seas for Normandy its likely to fail. Even with that kind of superiority its a difficult task.
If he could have taken land on the British mainland to force a surrender he would have.
THE best reason why we should all leave the EU?
Because a war mongering murder called Blair recommends Remain.
Out! Out! Out!
Total nonsense by both sides. but I kinda like Sturgeon GB. She is head and shoulders above all on this panel. Very sassy lady. Knows her stuff, as does the Labour woman. The rest of them were shockingly bad. FFS who would ever vote for Boris, he is clueless, but dangerous.
Contrary to popular opinion, Winston Churchill did not win the war on his own, although he did make some good speeches about fighting them on the beaches, etc. Basically sending the soldiers to an early grave, whilst he carried on puffing on his enormous cigars.
By the logic of this OP, the very fact that GB wants to leave should cause every sane person in the country to vote remain.
Leaving the EU could see a large amount of current and potential investors i the UK pull out or settle elsewhere, Ireland for example, as the UK will lose the trading allowances within EU countries, one reason to stay in.
I hope from the outside the UK votes to remain in the EU.
Had the chief at JP Morgan say the investment pull out could lead to four thousand jobs being lost in Bournemouth.
As someone who was born and lived in Germany however is British it's so strange how different the two countries are when thinking about the Economy. No great surprise that I am in the remain vote. However I haven't trusted an English government for a while now. Nobody has made me believe in what they are saying. If we leave Europe we are handing more power to people like Cameron and Boris. Working in Education as a teacher I've seen cuts cuts and more cuts although still demanding that we achieve better standards then ever before. I've walked into schools to see amazing individuals and educators who have families to support crying at their desk because they are being told that due to government funding your hours are being cut. Which means they earn so little that they need to quit.
Through my field of teaching (English Second Language ) a lot of funding comes through EU sponsored programs that without it wouldn't exist. Sorry this has turned into a bit of a rant. I don't trust Cameron and our political system to do what's right for the working man. Too many corrupted individuals that change on a dime. Workers rights could be at risk such as minimum wage, Part time same rights as full time, retirement, pregnancy leave are all protected by EU legislation. If we leave EU what guarantee do we have that they aren't going to make changes? We won't have the power to stop it if they do. Then of course it's a small matter of trade agreements which no doubt we will have to be stuck in for the next decade at least with nations. We won't be in a position of power countries will know we have to make deals. Again who wouldn't take advantage of that? Sorry about the little rant I just can't believe there are people who want to hand more power to this government no matter if you are blue, red, yellow, green, purple or orange!

for that reason alone we must stay then
what you're getting now is the moving of goalposts and very dirty tactics by Cameron et al, you can't extend the voting deadline, that has completely changed the whole referendum and the 'stooge' that has now switched sides...it's pathetic
I see that the well documented badness or Europe that GB mentioned hasn't been put forward by him.
This will go the same was as Scottish independence, a very narrow stay win I feel.
This will give Cameron more power to change our relationship within the EU and still allow trade via our commonwealth links to grow.

because the voting deadline was extended for 48 hours
Website registration crash.......
Who knows. But if you are stupid enough to wait until last minute then you shouldn't be able/allowed to vote
Dont get why people dont like the SNP, Why shouldnt scots have a representative voice in parliament ?
They are some of the most principled MPs we have at the moment as well, supporting proportional representation even though it would negatively affect their influence, as its democratically correct.
Most MPs sell the public down the river for the sake of their party, the SNP are prepared to do the exact opposite.
Im english, and i welcome the SNP, and find it totally bizzarre that the last election campaign the tories threatened us all with, basically democracy (a vote for labour is a vote for an snp coalition).
Now some of them are claiming we need to leave the EU for democracy?
Despite the fact that the council is elected, the MEPs are elected, and the commisioners are temporary roles, hand picked by the elected council.. they basically work for the democratically elected officials.
I quite literally CANNOT understand why anybody would vote leave.

What are you on about? The electoral commission said that the registration to vote deadline should be extended as there was a website error, surely that number of people affected would include people that were going to vote to leave?
As for the stooge as you put it, I very much doubt a head of NHS England would be a stooge, and would have the interests of the body she represented at heart.
The £350m to the NHS has been debunked anyway, BoJo got ripped on that one last night.

Typical brexit response ive come to expect.
I started off not knowing what way to vote, i looked at facts, and talked to people, It appears only one side of the debate can form a logical coherent and factual argument.
