Maybe Amarty is thought of as more as a right back than central midfielder at this stage of his development. I have no issues with Simpson but would like to see him with a full pre season under his belt.
Struggle? not sure about that. Most passes made by far, best accuracy of pass by far, most tackles, most interceptions by far and most distance covered.

Don't agree with your opinion on Simpson at all. Thought he was outstanding last season and out performed Fuchs at certain periods in the season. We need back up agreed, but he deserves to go into next season our first choice RB.
I'd echo CDUBYA's point - when Amartey was brought in, he was considered as a right back/defensive midfielder. Perhaps out interest in a CM combined with lack of interest in a right back is indicative.

I think Simpson performed to the very best of his abilities last season but those abilities do have limits. I'm not convinced he will improve much more and I see him as a potential weak link. Defensively he is solid but we can certainly do better than Danny Simpson at RB
