On many counters Kane was either too wide or deep and Sterling had nobody to aim for.
Sterling's confidence is shot at the moment. He was totally at a cross-roads with what to do on the counter creatively.
worst players on the night was rose, sterling and kane.
best player was again walker and maybe rooney
the rest did their job imo without being outstanding

I agree with this. Rose turned into trouble and lost it. Sterling had no product. Kane was anonymous.
Walker was so inventive and was always an outlet. Both in the Portugal game and this one against Russia, look at how slow they are to get the ball to Walker in the second half.

Don't be ridiculous.
Sterling is one of England's three most gifted players; w/Rooney & Wilshere.
No surprise those three are the players most targeted by fans. England fans have no idea what makes a good player.
Get real.

But you can't really think that after watching tonight's game? What, do you think he was doing stuff so technically advanced that mere oiks like us couldn't understand it? Personally, I would have kept him on for his pace, but it was clear tonight that he gets into half-decent positions and then just kicks the ball anywhere, with zero conviction and no apparent idea what he's trying to do: the very opposite of a technical player. Really poor, I thought. Lallana was far superior in first half.

Sterling had a decent game? Wtf were you watching?

You weren't playing Fifa again, were you? Sterling was dreadful. He was fur coat, but no knickers. What's the point of skinning a man if you can't cross it? The only good thing he did was that little back-heel for Rose, but then Alli messed things up by failing to put a boot on it when the ball was whipped-across the penalty area.

I think Juan agrees with you. He's the OP.
Still found it amusing that Englands biggest attacking goal threat was the one taking the corners.Where's the logic in that ?
Must say Dier was my standout performer.Real maturity in his game and tactically efficient with and without the ball.
Maybe we should send all our up and coming youngsters to Portuguese teams.

Easily done. It's a rhetorical question and you don't get the tone over the net.
Lallana, Sterling and Rose cost England this game. Rooney was afforded so much time, I wondered if Scholes was channeling him. Roy ultimately lost this game for England. His subs were clearly philosophical and he deserved that last minute equalizer. Rashford for Lallana, Vardy for Kane and maybe a change in LB are subs that would have seen England over. Russia were awful and I expect England to get to '16. However, if England play like this, this team will not make quarters.
unless we're four nil up and desperate to give them the ball back time and time again.

still wouldnt give him a go then
