Alli Wilshire
Sterling
Vardy Kane
Diamond.
Bertrand for set plays/dead-balls (instead of Kane) and generally being a better defender than Rose In my opinion (useful defending against crosses/diagonals in the air). Plays LB & CB.
Stones over Cahill, to pass through Wales' compact lines.
Kane to hold ball and bring Vardy into play.
Vardy for pace down the sides/channels against back 3 and both a threat from crosses in the box.
Wilshire for more dynamism in his ways than Rooney.
I'm of the belief that if you are going to take a young squad, then completely gamble with them.
Caution to the wind time now, in a must win.
id go with the same team to begin with, it was the subs that was the problem
Hart
Walker Cahill Smalling Rose
=== Wilshere == Dier ===
Lallana == Rooney == Sterling
======= Kane ========
I think Lallana and Sterling protect the wide areas well without the ball but they need to get closer to Kane when we have it and get between the lines a bit more. I'm hoping Wilshere will help with that by having quicker transitions and he's our best passer.
Same back 5 plus Dier.
Then Henderson with Dier in midfield with Vardy Alli and Lallana behind Kane.
4231 with the Spurs centre backs, and putting Alli and Kane together.
I think wilshere will play. Reckon woy might drop sterling and play alli left but I hope he drops alli, purely for who's suited. Sterling is the only player who offers width.
I'd also start sturridge over Kane but that's not happening.

The formation should stay the same. Those suggesting Roy changes to a 442 or a diamond dont have a clue what they're talking about. It wasn't the formation that was the issue against Russia it was the poor finishing that meant we only came away with 1 point instead of 3 which we deserved.
Before Dier scored we should have been a minimum of 3-0 up (Lallana x2 and Rooney and maybe a header by Smalling) but it wasn't meant to be. England played very well for the most part and it was only a freak goal at the deaths that undid us and the team can count themselves extremely unlucky as they had done enough to get the win.
Ho-hum these things happen but Roy doesn't need to make wholesale changes and I don't think he will anyway.
I would possibly swap Sturridge with Sterling and maybe bring Wilshere in if fully fit but wouldn't be bothered in the slightest if the team lined up the same.
If we can't beat Wales then we deserve to be playing Germany in the second round/out of the tournament altogether. Wales weren't great against Slovakia; they themselves got a freak goal and were unbelievably fortunate not to concede within the first 5 minutes.
All England chances were half chances.
Failed to create a single clear-cut chance but of course finishing was the only problem and they played very well. Yawn.
Rooney shoehorned into midfield had all the space to pass against a very poor Russian side, better organised opposition which I expect Wales to be will apply more dynamic pressure which will render him useless. Wilshire I feel will fare better against pressure.
Sterling often was the outball for counter but Kane and Lallana couldn't keep up with him, Vardy will.
I wasn't suggesting formation was the problem but Vardy and Kane are a must against Wales back 3/5.
Two strikers always better combating that set up.
We didn't create a single chance we should have scored from
The formation didn't work
We need 2 strikers (neither playing in midfield)
We played well in that opening gane, and should have won, but not by 3 rjçunty. Rooneys chance was at best a half chance.
I would hope for a hard fought win against Wales, and we should beat Slovakia, but it's no given.
Play your best striker, which is Sturridge.
England also need industry in midfield, and should not treat it as a retirement hope for ageing forwards.
Roys taking us out at the group stages.
