Since Germany changed their style to this posession based sh-tfest infused crap they've been playing since Euro 2012 they've been much less entertaining then the team that tore us and Argentina to shreds in the world cup in 2010 and were so much fun to watch in '06 and '08.
I get it's predicated on sides being much less willing to come at them, but they seem to have actively gone in that direction too with the introduction of Kroos and a persistence with Gotze rather than a focus on the explosion and movement of the likes of Muller. Where once it was quick, sharp, direct attacking play sprung from several different angles, it's now very one paced, deliberate and played in front of the opposition, something that doesn't bring the best out of Ozil.
They parked the bus against Spain in 2010 in an awful match. For country blessed with great talent, they woefully miss a striker--Gomez is essentially Giroud but worse. Muller should start. Low did the same experimental nonsense in the World Cup, with Lahm inmidfield. The Germans will sort it out by the knockouts.
Ozil was excellent today. He is too good for the game, tbf.
Funny how it's always others that have to change their game to accommodate Ozil. How about Ozil change things up for a change.
Good player but we are never going to win the big competitions at Arsenal with him bein our number 10. He is way too passive and hardly noticed in a game until he puts in a cross or set play and gets an assist.
Give me Payet all day long
Ozil has been brilliant in both games. Why would he change?
Payet was crap on Wednesday in the #10 role, even his own club manager, Bilic, said it is not a position he does well in.
Pretty ridiculous you saying you would prefer Payet at #10 than Ozil.

Well, yeah, but that's because you don't really understand football.
Seriously some of the fan base here make Ozil out to be some sort of "second coming"
Like I said, good player but pure luxury.
I would just prefer Payet to Ozil in any position

Castor, I sometimes get the feeling you only started watching professional football 2 years ago. There is such a short term outlook on all your views on the game its astounding.
I watched Payet on Wednesday and watched in frustration as he messed one counter attack after another. His short passing game is awful and he sees a pass much later than his contemporaries in the same position.
Make no mistake his chance creation numbers over the past few years are up there but he takes an age to pick a pass and has to look up each time.Just doesnt see passes the way Cesc and Ozil can.
But because he scores Roy of the rovers type of goals and Ozil doesnt, then he is a better player according to the likes of Castor.
If Ozil has to adjust his game to suit other like you say, essentially Ozil has to bring his level down. Thats essentially what it comes down to. He is a supreme chance creator, probably the best in the game. The fact that he is very languid doesnt change play like your modern day british hero doesnt change that.
Ozils position in the game reminds me of the role Xabi Alonso played when he was at liverpool. Not appreciated because he played in a pivot and barely made runs or score the goals the media crow about, but in that position he made Liverpool a great team.
I sincerely hope Xhaka can do that for us.
I wont be surprised the likes of Castor creating articles asking what he does.
Very little understanding and appreciation of the game
Lol most pundits including the ex german players have been criticing Ozil and his invisibility in games.
You talk about Payet but how many times does Ozil lose the ball or get muscled/rushed of it. He never commits to tackles and will always lose any 50/50.
Don't get me wrong, Ozil is a very good player but the way some eulogize over him and see no faults in his game is laughable at times
Castor is just a bit biased, that's all. He'll defend somebody like Walcott, but criticise an Ozil. Bit silly, but everybody is entitled to an opinion.
He's a quality player, who deserves and to a point needs great players around him.
