How did we go from £19m to £28m, if they reject this are we going to offer £37m?
Would be a good signing for us, and would add some much needed quality and more importantly end product to our right hand side/attack.
£28 mill plus add ons sounds about right for a player of his quality. And a steal if we compare it to Deeney's £30 mill bid by Leicester.
One bid turned down so the second bid is £9M higher?
Nice one Daily Mirror. You nearly got me there.

It really isn't that unbelievable when you consider how we conduct our transfers.
Exactly, we bid £19m and they tell us they wont sell for less than £22m, so we bid £28, simple!
We raised our bid by roughly 50%, I reckon we'll bid around 45m next.
Or Maybe his agent hinted that they want no less than €35m, so we are acting fast to get it done?
Woodward can't do right for doing wrong on here... Or would you lot rather a long, protracted saga over a couple of million £, giving a chance for another club to swoop in (remember Pedro?)
I was about to say exactly the same thing JSPC.
We have no idea of the internal machinations of any of the transfers, yet everyone's default response is to slate Woodward and the club.
Dortmund need to stop being so clingy and let him join us.
If you cant sense that my comments (and presumably manutd1982's as well) were slightly tongue in cheek then there isn't much hope.
Don't people haggle? If we bid £19m and Dortmund say they want no less than £28m, don't you then go in between next? I understand going up a million or so each time would be stupid and time consuming but it is still quite a big difference to make.
Would be a great signing if we can get this done
28m would still be a great price.
I did think he would be going to Liverpool and Klopp, which could be a safer option for him as Klopp is trying to play a similar style.
Keep hearing he wants United though, although not seen the actual quotes from him.
Good price for a player with such stats, not sure if he is a Jose player or not.

The report does say that Dortmund want £31m for him, so upping the figure but such an amount does make sense it we are trying to get the deal done ASAP. It is pretty close to the supposed figure that they want and would get the deal over quickly and give Dortmund time to find a replacement.

Like I say, if they agent has said "no less" than €35m, eg, they wont budge until it reaches that figure, then why mess about offering a bid that you know will get rejected.
Clubs are praised for getting business done early and part of that process is to find the price they want and get it paid.
Agents and clubs say things all the time, but they often change their stance. I imagine clubs usually come to some kind of agreement after a lot of toing and froing. If Dortmund feel deep down they've lost their man then of course they want as good a price as possible.
Who knows, maybe they said no less than £37m so we went in between. I don't know him too well but £28m in today's market isn't that much.
If we keep pi$$ing about with the price and they fack up the deal people will be moaning that we didn't pay what they wanted
my rough understanding is that dortmund have said £31m, and united's bid is £28m plus add-ons...presumably those add-ons are valued at £3m.
so the new bid makes sense, it is at a level where dortmund may sell, and sell to united right now - rather than spend weeks haggling over £4m and allow arsenal/chelsea/city/bayern etc to come in.
I've heard Dortmund are adamant they won't sell. Could you blame them? Already lost Hummels, probably going to lose Aubeyang... Must be horrible being a Dortmund fan.
Of course they don't want to sell, but they'll lose him for free in a years time if they don't. Losing £30m on a grumpy player just might not be worth it.
They'll probably accept a bid of £35 million but Ed will insist on us paying £35 million plus £45 million extra in add ons
I'm always wary of signing Dortmund players. Their fast build up, kamikaze style of forward runners and freedom on the ball makes it easier for an attacking player to look the business imo.
Perhaps I'm just looking at the Gotzes and Kagawa's instead of the Lewandowski's.
I've only every seen him play 5-10 times max in the CL & Europa.
Obviously his stats point to a fairly productive player, have these goals/assists been from the left in a 433, or 4231 behind the striker, or in the AM role?
Is he quick, have a high work-rate that Jose will like, or more of a silky easy on the eye player that we will have to accommodate?
