Too late for all of that, England voted the Tories in , England voted to leave the EU, there is nothing to stop them putting in place a right wing prime minister with a right wing cabinet
I now want out of Britain and independence for Scotland
Do you mind me asking laudrup if you've changed your mind re independence or have you always felt that way ?
Interesting article, if a little far-fetched in reality.
A coalition of progressives could do an awful lot of good for the UK. The right is fragmented, possibly about to descend into civil war, and this would be the perfect time for a Labour-led liberal, centre-left coalition to take advantage.
For me, the most likely reason it wouldn't in reality get anywhere is the right wing of the parliamentary Labour Party. Corbyn could unite the progressives with a commitment to moving towards proportional representation, further devolution of power (which may or may not represent independence), and power-sharing, but the right of the party will hound him out, continuing to disillusion grassroots activists and younger voters whilst hanging on to a vain sentimentality for the days of New Labour. Which is a great shame.
Seriously? Scotland on its own? Utter madness.
It could never survive and I say that as a previous fervent independence supporter.
How many people in Scotland work for UK companies based in England? What will they do when they have to have separate insurances, payrolls and benefits for employees? I know this because I do it in Iteoand and believe me the red tape is horrific and very costly compared to taking on someone from the UK mainland.
They'll probably up sticks and leave or they will pay their employees less. Simple economics. Now is the time for all the 4 home nations to stick together.
What about borders between Scotland and England when and if freedom of movement ceases?
The oil industry was dying on its feet and after Brexit, US companies will withdraw even more.
We voted to stay in the Union and the Union voted to leave. That's it. There are no grounds whatsoever for a second referendum. None at all. All it's doing is creating even more uncertainty and potentially preventing investors from coming to the UK.
An abisoute non starter.
I suspect it's very much on the cards ginger. There's no doubt the red tape will initially create lots of uncertainty but we are very capable of managing our own affairs and in the long term governing your own country will prove much more straightforward than being dragged by the baws in whichever direction each government (that Scotland didn't vote for) decides to lurch.
The Scottish Independence vote was undertaken by an electorate expecting a continuing membership of the EU.
The English have once again fecked the Scots over, as they have done at the polls for decades. Only this time, it's not five years to wait before a vain opportunity to try to correct the issue; this time it's for life.
If I were a Scot, I'd be desperate for a second independence vote now, and if you get one which would allow the people to choose to cede from the UK and remain in the EU, I'll be very jealous and wishing the youth of the country - the future of Scotland - the best of luck.
Sorry but I don't believe for a minute that Scotland could ever run its own affairs as the world is right now.
It's a very changed place. In fact I wouldn't be shocked to see a complete break up of the EU in the next five years.
I complete disagree with the first part ginger - absolutely no reason why we wouldn't manage. I agree with the second part and hope we have another referendum very quickly
Respect your opinions though
I think its wishful thinking by a lot of Brexiters
I always respect anyone's opinions but go on other boards and allegedly I'm a thick, racist Sun reading, knuckle dragging bigot

Scaremongering Ginger! Why do you employ people from Iteoand if its too much hassle for you?
Wtf is iteoand anyways ya cant?
Bottom line is that at 55/45 and 51/49 both referendum results reflect the fact that there is no obvious rights/wrongs - both issues are complex and debatable.
Now now.
Typo policeman.
I never said it was too much hassle. I said it was a lot more hassle. I still did it and I would do it again. I have a very strong social conscience.
However, would large employers like call centres, banks etc do the same for hundreds of employees? I'm talking about 3 or 4 at most.
Now now.
Typo policeman.
