Ronaldo has led weak Portugal teams to Euro finals twice.

===========
The 04 team was not led by Ronaldo and was full of top quality.

Wouldn't go that far.

Only other players of note were Figo, Deco and Carvalho, but Figo was well past his best by then.

Costinha, Jorge Andrade, Ricardo, Pauleta and Rui Costa were top quality as well.

Rui Costa didn't start the final because he was another way past his sell by date. The others you've mentioned are no better than any of the players who will start for Portugal tonight.

If you think Ronaldo dragged that side to the final you are much mistaken
That Portuguese side is better man for man than this Portugal side is pretty much every position. The only player in favour for this team is Ronaldo, being better now than he was in 2004. Maybe Pepe / Jorge Andrade would be close.

Messi: Always had a far superior team around him since the 'rivalry' began between them. Recently has thrown a hissy fit, because he's lost finals playing internationally so decided to retire. Nothing short of laughable. It's part of the package of being a footballer.

Ronaldo: Since moving to Real, never has had the superior team around him, both for club and country. Shouldn't even be anywhere near finals and still represents them.

The guy is a born winner, people's dislike towards him has always been hilarious and unjust. Really doesn't matter what Messi does, they'll always find a way to justify his actions and not Ronaldos.

Just imagine Ronaldo evading taxes and quitting international football 2 years ago, because he isn't winning.

I never said Ronaldo dragged them to the final, but you are certainly overrating some of their players. Jorge Andrade for instance, who's career highlight was a runners up medal in the Spanish cup for deportivo. Pepe is twice the player he was. There are probably about 4 or 4 other players who would definitely have got into that team in 04.

I don't really care who dragged which tells where
Messi is better, albeit a tax cheat

I know it by watching them play.

You do know that apart from the likes of Figo and Rui Costa, the spine of the Porto team that won the CL THAT SAME YEAR under Mourinho had many of Portugal's players. They were a very good side with or without Ronaldo.
