It brings the question as to when someone can question a manager.
Do you judge him on what he achieved over a decade ago for the rest of his career?
Do you wait until we decline and end up like Liverpool in the 90s, and the obvious struggle they have had since then?

They want their manager to spend fortunes, so did we under Fergie, we hated the "no value int he market" line.

In reality, we had it better than we ever will.

Sorry, what's prompted this? Has something happened? Or is this a (rather slow) reaction to the section of Arsenal support who have wanted Arsene out for the last 10 years or so?

Meh, normal for Football. Some fans think the way to long term success is slowing building up the club with shrewd investment where needed each year, others want a huge splurge in the hope the new £80m player doesn't get injured or just plain flop.

I've been saying the same thing for years, we aren't poor, but we also are as rich as some others who can p-ss £80m* up the wall with their fingers crossed. The price has clearly been set to tell us to f-ck off, we should heed that, get over it and move on to another target.

*This number used to be smaller in the earlier arguments.

"we also are as rich as some others"

"Dissing" 1995 called it wants it's slang back.

Oh right, my apologies - it turns we can afford to throw £80m a single player in the hope he stays fit, scores 30+ goals and wins us the league because Wenger is on £8m a year.

Think the problem is more that our faults are so blatant, so fixable yet every summer we fail to sort them - the season predictably falls apart for the exact reason everyone knew it would and then it's rinse and repeat again and again.

The amount of money is irrelevant but you do get what you pay for and with other sides having more than caught up in terms of talent scouting Arsenal will have to pay the over-inflated going rate for top players.

We're so slow, so late to sort our major issues that by the time we finally sort one another two have popped up.

People say Wenger is reactive rather than proactive when lately he's been neither. Unless you think being reactive is realising there's an issue 3 years after everyone else and still failing to fix it another 3 years later.

I've often felt Wenger is too much of a 'nice guy', keeping players on way past when it's kinda clear things aren't working out. We can't really afford that either for much the same reasons, tbf.

We can afford the top players. We've already bought some. We just can't afford £80m. For me.

and you do realise we could have bought Higuain 2 years ago for £30m. but Wenger thought that was too expensive. so who's fault is it that Arsenal now "cant afford" Higuain at £80m?

----------------------------------------------------------------------
Of course I realise that, and of course Wenger should be criticised for something that happened 2 years ago, and he has been. But he shouldn't be criticised for not spending £80m now to try and fix that mistake. That's all I'm saying.

We should be competing with juventus, Dortmund and atletico with our resources. Especially considering we use them wisely. I have little problem with the squad. My issue is Wenger failing to get the best from it.

Can't really argue with that.

he'd have won the league if he's offered proper money for Suarez that time

But we're richer than both City and Chelsea should we not be competing with them?

Hey the day Arsenal end up our of european competition like Chelsea then you have a right to complain. Who says you are not competing with Juva and Dortmund. Also If I am not correct you ended up higher than Man city as well.

We aren't competing with Dortmund or Juve, both have done significantly more in Europe than we have in recent years. Chelsea? They've actually won the CL and league recently and despite finishing 10th last year will win the league again before we will if Wenger stays in charge, same with Man Utd despite them being bang average for 3 years.
Our main competitors in recent years have been Spurs despite the fact we're a much bigger club and have WAY more spending power. Wenger deserves all the stick he gets, all of the big clubs will be clapping their hands with glee if he extends his contract.
