Safe Standing

If it slows down the fans when trying to get on the pitch and kill each other, even that is an advantage safety-wise.

Particularly after what happened between Celtic and Hibs.

You mean rangers v hibs?

Looked good yesterday, that one section cost £500k to install.

I think if we're ever going to go back to standing in the English prem/champo, then not only will it have to be properly tested and safe, but also it will have to be in areas where everyone knows in advance it's a standing zone.

standing isn't just about safety, it's also a pain in the jack harris for some fans who can't stand up all game and can't see half of the action. so if and when we ever get permission for this, we'll need to restrict standing to the safe areas and let STHs know a year in advance to enable people to move if they want to.

I agree, I do not think you could convert a whole stadium or go back to the old 80% of the capacity being standing. However a set section of the ground converted to standing based on demand and then enforce the no standing in the seated areas. The current standing in the seated areas is dangerous as the seat in front is at shin height, I am surprised there are not more accidents with people falling over the seats in front.

Can't remember the last time I sat down at an away game. Basically if you sit down you don't see the game. It is dangerous and when a goal is scored its not unusual for people to fall over the seat in front. No problem for agile kids but not so good for the older fans. Also people tend to stand by their mates even if they don't have seat tickets together so some rows become over crowded. Not against standing but am against this current situation of standing in seated areas

Rail seats that can be fastened back to allow safe standing are a no brainer. No more falling over rows of seats when someone behind you over zealously celebrates a goal (not so much of a problem with that watching Forest last season...), no more arguments between those who want to sit and those that want to stand and , heaven forbid, they may even price them appropriately.
The fact that there is a reluctance amongst the authorities to fully support their use shows how much they still hold football supporters in contempt.
