I'm not writing off this Nkoudou or Njie by the way. I asked a fair simple question before chronic jumped on me like flies to sh**. The question I feel is justified and that's are we just buying a carbon copy of Njie? Both Young raw pacy wingers of similar age and from the French league.

Its not top trumps Don the fact that they play same position, are from the same league and are a similar age means absolutely nothing I would hope more goes into picking players than that simple criteria ok N'jie hasn't worked out, (hasn't really gotten a chance tbf) but this new kid has obviously been scouted and they've liked what they saw, whereas N'Jie has been around for a while now and if they're willing to let him go you gotta think they aint impressed with what they got
Messiah, if this Nkoudou turns out to be brilliant then fantastic. I just find the signing a little strange. It's probably a position we don't really need strengthening but I'm happy we are atleast doing our transfer dealings early for once

We seem to really lack pace of the bench. Take the Chelsea game for instance. When we were ahead if we had pace they would not have pushed up as far as they did chasing the equaliser.
Without pace it's a bit easier for teams to read our game and take risks.
Every team needs a pacy outlet. Leicester had two, Arsenal have a few, Chelsea have Hazard, Man U have Martial, We don't really have anyone with frightening pace in our forward or attacking positions. We need that option.

I'm going to play Devils advocate and say that surely we already have Pacey outlets with Njie, Son and maybe even Edwards

Was N'Jie even properly scouted? I seem to recall us trying to sign Martial only to miss out to Utd.

We gave up on him fairly quickly after what they wanted for him.
I'd be surprised if Njie wasn't scouted

Yeah and I'm pretty sure he actually did sign a new contract before United came in for him
Genius you did indeed have you got contacts at the club or something ?
Just someone who has dealings with the club on a daily basis
To be fair, both their names start with an N and then an apostrophe. So I imagine they're very similar in all other areas.
I think we did not see enough of N'Jie to know what he was capable of.
But then again, we don't know what Pochettino saw on the practice field. So must hope that the swap is a good one for us.
just my opinion, but i don't think N'jie and N'Koudou are very similar players at all.
they both have pace but id say N'Koudou plays more like Sterling (when he was decent for liverpool) and is far better technically than N'jie. He can playa cross the front 3 as he's 2 footed whereas i think N'jie is a CF. He can play best off the last defender and use his pace to get through on goal, he was badly misused on the wings last season , i think he'd be better is a front 2 with Kane or Janssen coming off the bench. this is where he played with Lyon with laccazette and was pretty effective

I sort of thought we already signed a young french quick forward when we got N'Jie.
Why are we signing another one and giving up on Clinton?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Because our scouting is shiiite!
Us fans can spot flaws in a player after watching for 10 mins. Our scouts watch for 10 games and spend our hard earned cash bringing them to the club. Its then they discover they are not good enough. I think they should have a committee of JA606 fans in the decision making process. Honestly think we can do a better job.
Most of the magnificent 7 gone also now possibly, Njie... Fazio etc. The list goes on..

Was Pochetinno, Paul Mitchell and all his staff around when we bought players with the Bale money..?
Chadli, Eriksen and Lamela are still about and scoring/ assisting goals and yu do realise that not every signing is going to be a hit. Its the same for every club.

infact, very few players that we have were brought through the ranks, so buy very definition we must have bought the rest,.... and we have a good team, so we have good players.... so our scouting really isn't that bad is it !?

And those players who have been successes haven't rolled out from Madrid or Barca, but from lower leagues, surely indicating the scouting is relatively decent?
I've been seriously impressed with the way Spurs have scouted youth, given them responsibility on the pitch and let them get on with it. Whether its to do with the managers (Pochettino most assuredly, Sherwood deserving some credit also for placying youth?)
Yes, I agree we do have a good team no doubt. But I am generalising here and not particularly targeting this scouting team or this era.
The build up of frustration is really just looking back over the years, seeing an incoming player and don't believe he is good enough and then been proved right. We have squandered a lot on many players with little to show for it.
The difference between N'Jie & Nkoudou is that the latter is much better on the ball and crossing, plus he can shoot with either foot.
Sometimes you just have to take a risk, if it doesn't pay off, then at least you tried.
Failure is for those who don't take a chance, at Spurs currently we can not match the wages and fees that clubs like Chelsea, United, City and Arsenal pay out.
Maybe when we are in the new stadium that might change, who knows?
