"Chelsea still want him and there's time to close the deal," Satin said. "We've decided to leave for economic reasons. After what happened to Higuain, though, Kalidou will not be leaving for Juventus or another competitor."
Some good business considering no CL this season. Small club Chelsea
He's not signed yet.
You would have heard 4za crying from here if he had
Don't see how Napoli can turn down €45m for a centre half.
I'd say it's pretty much a done deal.
Conte buying us a new backbone to the side with his signings so far.
Think we could do with a couple more then can challenge for the title this year.
I'd like a new fullback as well, Ivan's an accident waiting to happen these days and Rahman and even the ever reliable Azpi are struggling to convince atm
Everything I've read about him seems positive, except perhaps for the fact he's only just started playing ata high level this season. Still he's 6"5, strong, quick, but apparently also v good & composed playing the ball out
Signing Koulibaly gives us options.
Will primarily play CB in back 3 or 4 and second choice RB/DM when there is unavailability/shortage.

Definitely agree with Ivan, surely if he plays it should be at CB.
Azpi is still our most consistent and best defender, not convinced by Baba at lb though
Minor downside is we'll lose him to African cup of nations in January, Senegal qualified.

That tournament is always a pain for us, takes place at the busiest time of the season which makes it worse.

In the same way many clubs are turning down offers like that for important defenders with high upside/ceiling and CB's in particular are of huge demand in this window.
Don't know how good this guy is.
I hope we're not blowing our money. Spending quite a fair bit here compared to what we spent in the summer after the league title..
We were very close to signing Rudiger at the start of the summer. Koulibaly is better than Rudiger hands down. Very complete defender.
We'll be lucky to get away being successful with bid of £38m.
Napoli president is notorious for being a tough negotiator and doesn't sell cheap.
Will Napoli sell now they've sold Higuain?

True
He is the version of Daniel Levy in Italy
Cmf, your thoughts on Utd getting Pogba on the cheap?
If Koulibaly is trying force move as the agent is suggesting (and not for improved contract), think Napoli will sell at the right price that suits them.
Koulibaly stock has risen on the back of one good season with Napoli, before that he was unknown. Hope he does turn out to be good for us. Another positive thing is that he is versatile, can play as DM or as RB if required.
Napoli seems to have a knack of unearthing good talents.
We will soon find out if he is any good when #4za cuts his vein off in prottest.
He's been angling for a new contract as well. That's why he wanted to leave to begin with because Napoli wouldn't increase his wages. Though I've read they're looking to offer him improved terms now. There will be riots in Napoli if they sell him as well as Higuain.
