'now that Peabo's had Jack Stamps twice-over and is captain'

Has your male muse confirmed this to you, 666?

Can't be anyone else if Pearson knows what he's doing

Only one more year for MistaKeogh

In order to be captain you should be the first name on the team sheet. I don't think Bryson would get in the team now if Thorne was fit. First choice midfield trio of Hughes, Hendrick and Thorne. If 442 then a wide player is required as the extra midfielder.

We have to wait until 2019 to get rid of Blackman, Johnson and Camara. They might improve on last season's displays but I wont hold my breath.

Hendrick? You're having a laugh. Far too inconsistent to be first choice and Peabo's two PoTY awards and out scoring of Jeff says he's more consistent than the Purple Patch Paddy.

That said, MistaKeogh's had two PoTY awards too, and he's garbage so maybe just consider all the OPTA stats for #CB4 over the rest. We floundered big time last season before the talismanic Craigmeister returned from injury and single-handedly salvaged our season.

It would be bad enough having a Scotsman as captain but to have one that cant get into the National side is quite scary.

Since his hat trick against the vermin I have only seen a hand full of games when Bryson played well. He has been out injured for much of the time but when he was fully fit he was nowhere near the player he was in when he scored 17 goals in the season.

Hendrick has improved now and filled out physically. He will have to play the Thorne role for a while, he was excellent in that role at Hull. Bryson missed a sitter in the same game to make it 3 0.

...and we'd not even have been playing Hull if #CB4 hadn't galvanized the return to form that your boy Hendrick had allowed to slump.

Through injuries and form Jeff had carte blanche to step up and claim the shirt: he failed miserably. He's behind Thorne and Hanson for DM, behind Peabo and Butters for the AM role alongside Hughes. He's "levels" with Johnson.

Quoth the person who never watches a game. How do you form your judgement of a player's form?

Besides which we all know Hendrick is Backo's son from a boozy weekend in Dublin 24 years ago.

Judgement from their Ivory tower.....but who do I mean?

The results tell all, and before Peabo was resurrected we were dropping like a stone.

Spart,

Not sure if you saw Blackman in pre season, but I did and was impressed with him. He wont start every week, but he has clearly pulled his socks up and i think we will be seeing some good stuff from him.

Note the anti Bent crew appear to have disappeared temporarily.

More of our strikers exhibiting good form can only be good news.

I saw Blackman enough last season and quite frankly Conor Sammon was more effective, so unless there has been a road to Damascus type of conversion then he is still a waste of space.

Unless Bent can improve on the number of times he touches the ball then I can't see him doing much either.

I've always been more pro-Martin, than anti-Bent.
Very liberal thinker, me

Bent touching the ball has little to do with him. His style of play is to look for the gaps between the defenders and make timely runs into them. Our midfield isn't sharp enough to look fr those passes, we are too concerned with passing sideways, backwards or running with the ball.

Our midfield and every other club's since he left Charlton.

Bent has 12 goals in 15 starts for Derby, just sayin.......

posted on 5/8/16

I agree, he makes brilliant, darting runs, but even the best midfielder in the Championship isn't able to read them.
Not that they've had much game time together, though....

How many of those games have we won though Jorvik? If you are not contributing enough or the attacks breakdown easily then it puts your defence under pressure. Look at Rob Earnshaw at West Brom, prolific scorer but usually on the losing side. Look at other statistics, not just the goals for. Then you don't waste money on players like Adam le Fondre.

Darren Bent is quality. He is a goal scorer and he's been terribly under used at Derby.
Looks trimmer and sharper than at any time I've seen him at Derby. Aside from that - and the same can be said of a number of players from what I've seen, he seems to have responded well to NP

We will see. Bent looked massively overweight last season so maybe he wants a swan song to his career. Pearson is not as obsessive about posession as Clough, Maclaren and Clement so it may suit Bent's style more than Martins.

posted on 5/8/16

I can very well agree with Iwas re Bent. I think we were under so much pressure due to Clement being fired that
Vassal never had time to find his best team. Hopefully Pearson, with a new eye, will find his own way.

Hello.

I've never been against Bent, I know his style, it's the way I used to play. If we aren't looking for the thorough ball then he doesn't fit in so shouldn't play.

One thing I can't understand is that if you are a senior player warming the bench then when do you get match fit. Bent never played U21.
