Akpom "like a new signing"

Very short on quality but at least they're mobile. It's got to the stage where I'd rather see anyone other than Giroud

Well, if he's good enough, then he's good enough. It'd be great to see one of these youngsters make it as a first team regular.

I'm more concerned about our defence to be honest.

We have plenty of players who may be able to chip in with a goal, (in the short term) however next to no experience in the centre of defence.

Any chance of Koscielny being rushed back for the Liverpool game?

Alexis is most likely to start up front.

Akpom has scored goals in the last two pre-seasons as well - didn't make Wenger suddenly think he was the answer then, so not sure why it would now.

Because we have no other out and out forwards...

We have Alexis. We have Walcott. We have Campbell. All forwards. All played as a lone striker.

A lot of rumours of Campbell's departure (again) this summer; Is it actually likely he will be let go this time?

While AW has previous (Sanogo starting against Munich an example… ) agree with DJ, I can’t see Akpom starting against Liverpool.

By the time we play Leicester Lewandowski will have signed anyway….

Theo is back in potential mode after showing a little in the past 2 games with goals. I'm sure it won't last long on an extended run will default back to normal. Our defense looks very prone to be opened again. City started to dominate at the end of the game yesterday.

Ive been saying fofr weeks that I wouldnt be surprised if kpom is our new forward and Bielik our new CB. SInce the club said Akpom would be the only recognised CF available for Liverpool.

I am still trying to hold on to a small glimer of hope that there is a deal going on for a top CF and CB that will be unexpected until its done, a bit like Ozil and Sanchez.

Big chance Kosicelny will play on Sunday. A full weeks training. Players have come straight back in after injury with just a few days training, Koscielny has just been chilling. Doubt he has let himself go in 4 weeks.

Gnarby seems to be scoring for fun out in Brazil.

Meh. We'll be fine.

AW stated Kos might be involved – depending on his fitness. Think (at worst) he’ll be on the bench.

Agree, Kos will be on the bench.

Our CB situation will only be an issue if our CM don't shield them, i.e. don't feckin play Ramsey there.

If we have Xhaka - Elneny/Coquelin providing cover, Chambers and Holding should be ok for at least one game. Kos to be in the starting lineup for the Leicester game.

That's a pretty valid point. If we can resist playing a suicidal formation then our awful CBs might not get exposed.

The problem is a player like Chambers will always have an individual error in his game. A dodgy clearanceor losing a man for a moment - things that can always end with a goal against.
Also set pieces will be an issue. At least Skrtel won't be around, but a couple of their new signings look like beasts.

Akpom will save us from paying dizzy prices for strikers.

He'll probably get about 5 minutes at the end against Liverpool before Wenger deciding he's not good and him being sold or loaned out.

If Wenger has any sense our CB against Liverpool will be Kosielney and Chambers unless Kos is totally out of shape.

Akpom simply is not good enough . End of. We have the money and we need to spend it on a good striker to compete with or even complement Giroud. We also need a decent CB. Gabriel even when fit ids pretty useless.
