Too simple a solution for Wenger. Hernandez is fast, great positionally and an excellent finisher. He's good in the air and playing to his strengths will get you 20 goals a season. He's there to get goals and nothing else and he's one of the best at it.

But because he doesn't want to play with his back to goal, your fans and manager won't want him. Hernandez would score 20 goals a season playing with Giroud though.

When he was ousted from UTD I said we should get him. Ended up with Welbeck instead, which wasn't a bad thing until we see that he is always injured.

Wenger doesn't want someone to replace Giroud. He wants someone who can play with him. Hernandez would be a very good signing

Hernandez would be a serious contender for golden boot feeding off Ozil, Sanchez, Ramsey and Cazorla. He's ready made for Arsenal. Imagine if Walcott had a football brain and could finish; that's what Hernandez offers you.

He's fairly similar in style to Asano and Vardy so it seems we do want that kind of player. And he's gettable. Would prefer him to Theo or lacazette.

If that's the case and Wenger was for the first time in a long time willing to play a proper front 2, then Hernandez would be excellent for Arsenal. It might relegate Ozil to the left or bench, but it could win you the title.

Can he play CB?

But more seriously, he's a finisher and not much more. Some people might say that's what we need, but I don't think his all round game is up to much. He's a player designed for a strike partnership in a world where most sides (and definitely Arsenal) only play one up front.

He is a fox in the box. Do well with the creative quality we have. If he just finished 50% of what Giroud missed last season we would have won the league. And I like Giroud.

Absolutely 100% spot on. I don't know why we bother, it's painful but I always get sucked in.

yeah I remember Henry getting lots of hate from the fans because he didnt play with his back to goal...

different team and a way different style of play of quick counter attacking football.

This tippy tappy rubbish we play requires a CF with his back to goal.

Why do people continue to spout this nonsense. It's clear Wenger wants to play 3 pacey forwards ahead of ozil. We have been at out best with Theo and welbeck up top. The problem is they are always injured.

Born offside.

His link up play ain't that great.

And he's rather lucky when finishing in all honesty.

No one knows what Wenger's transfer plans are. We can all speculate about different players who have been mentioned in the media but usually Wenger's signings are completely left-field. Who for example, predicted the Ozil signing or Xhaka? Sanchez I seem to recall wasn't really mentioned until he'd almost put pen to paper.

Wenger might well be looking at Hernandez or Bony or Mahrez or even bringing fat Sol Campbell out of retirement. Fact ios none of us or the press have a clue. It's a closed shop at Arsenal - no one speaks to the press. the only reason we found out about Vardy is through his agent and Leicester. Wenger didn't say a word.

Too many strikers at the club now.

Need space for Asano to develop.

A lot of truth in this. Arsenal are rumoured to require all parties to keep any genuine deal quiet. The ones that come out in the media are, at best, where Arsenal have made an enquiry about it. The selling club or agent spews it everywhere to try to drum up interest in their player. Either that or made up that we're interested. The famous *** sources.

We can afford a lot better than Hernandez, time to stop cheaping out on CFs.

posted on 10/8/16

I think Wenger's very picky with players but has failed to lure them in like with Vardy and now sitting on his hands not knowing where to go next.. so he ends up signing guys like Sanogo and prays Walcott can play upfront until Welbeck is injury free. Then repeats this the following summer when Welbeck scores a couple and gets injured.

Hernandez might not be Pele/Messi/Maradona rolled into one but he's a damned sight better than Bony, Remy, Walcott, Sanogo, Akpom or whatever other mediocre crap we are likely to have.playing upfront for us.

Fact I'm praying for Giroud coming back for us says it all. I like the big fella by the way but we'd need more than him in order to really compete. As for Theo (10 years and I still don't know whether I'm a striker or a winger) Walcott and Danny (1 goal in 4 and made out of twigs) Wellbeck - if those 2 are all we have then we really are in trouble.

I'd play Iwobi up there - at least he has a heart and a bit of confidence about him. He's a decent finisher as well.
