Top of wolfies league equals a happy bunny

After reading through numerous reports from folk that went it seems that Price, Wallace and Costa came out of it with some credit and a few gave Coady the thumbs up.

CBs sounded a bit iffy and Lonergan not likely to challenge Ikeme.

Prince struggled then apparently? Not match fit i guess and Tex had his quietest game then?

On "stats" alone, Wolves murdered Cambridge:
64% possession, 18 shots, 9 on target, 9 corners.

However by all accounts it was a poor performance and a narrow 2-1 victory!

Hope Zenga has learned something from his bizarre team selection and reverts to his strongest team for the visit to 'udders.

At the moment, Jon Dadi should be the first name on the team sheet and CBJ will probably play a part on Saturday, possibly at the expense of Hause with Iorfa joining Batth in the centre if Saiss is not signed by then.

We have some talented players now in in Tex, Dadi, Costa etc... but the talent is wasted if Zenga can't blend them into a team!

I think I'll pop over and see if they've come to terms with the defeat !

Only just found out we missed a pen last night.

Was also thinking about the reaction Jackett would have got if he'd sent that team out!

It's working though and Wally will get away with some experimental stuff during the honeymoon period.

How good are we going to be in couple of months time?

posted on 24/8/16

we got through so it's job done....

I like that he's tinkering to see who's up tot he job and who will sacrifice themselves for the good of the team (coady for example will have shown his worth)

tranny window shuts in a few days and a lot of this squad are running out of time to impress him (Henry for sure)

this experimenting is the price we pay for not having a settled pre-season

Good points there Tster

Deffo think Henry will be gone soon

Tino, sound posting but still trying to get my mind round the concept of a "tranny window".

Wouldn't be surprised to see two or three leave over the next week and Henry likely fronts that queue.

Feels like Zenga has been using these early games as our pre season to me, with very little rhyme or reason to his starting line ups.

Hopefully we start to see a settled line up soon though as we won't keep getting away with poor halves of football.

What's the deal with Saiss anyway, supposedly announced today?

Is it me or are we signing a load of midfielders again

posted on 24/8/16

he was at the game yesterday so I imagine it'll be close

from what I read he's a CM who "can" play at CB....CBJ seems to be a LB who can play at CB

Looks like Zengy-babes want's a versatile squad

No kidding, last night's line up was comical.

Draw for the next round today?

posted on 24/8/16

presume so, there's 4 more ties tonight

posted on 24/8/16

Will he put a comedy team out next round? We might get Man City or the like. Bring it on.

The draw for the next round is tonight after the games

Like to think that is the last time we see Saville at LB at least, though Coady appears to be doing a decent job when back there, even still i don't think that is a long term plan.

Perhaps this is the vision

Doherty, Iorfa, Batth, CBJ

I think so Cinch

CBJ played the best part of a dozen games for UTD there so would imagine he's good enough to slot right in

......what do u mean ?

I've seen Hause play many times for the U21's and to be honest, he's done a good job. Not sure why he can't reproduce that form with us.

It was a strange starting line up for sure, but as has been suggested, I think WZ is using games like last night to assess the depth of the squad. I do feel that there will be a few who don't feature in his final selections and will more than likely move on.
