Very disappointing so far.
Bristol City spent 3m on Tomlin. A number 10 whose played at the higher end of this league and is proven.
We signed a lad on loan.
I may still come good but it's as a 10 not a winger.
Never sure of this signing.certain players get old quick!
Wingers don't age well, and he hasn't. He has been put in the midfield and we have seen him fail to impose over 90mins
Needs to play behind the striker, but we seem better with 2 up top so a sub for me.
When we were linked with signing players like Tomlin people complained brcausd he was too fat.
Never ever seen a player give the ball as much
Looks finished as a player
But still got time
LIW, I think he is pretty much washed up as a force. He was a speedy and tricky winger, and as I said when we bought him, wingers age very quickly and it was a gamble signing.
Notbonly that but he went abroad to get a final payday ... Reeks of "I'm done with trying". Tomlinson would have been great for us.
I accept people argued against him because we needed pace and he lacked it but always wanted him. Proper number 10.
Mike
A lot on here said it was a great signing
At the moment it's a good job it's only six month loan
And I can see it ending early
I agree, both he and Grimes are duds. Also we need an expensive striker, as in a striker who ppl will sit up and say "Leeds have just bought goals".
3 million for wood
3 million for roofe
2 million for ant
Sorry but we have spent on strikers.
8 million and we have a target man who can't head, a "pacy" striker without pace and a guy who despite his hard work can barely hit the target.
8 million, just let that sink in.
We've done it again
Replaced deadwood with more deadwood
Instead of signing 12 players
Sign 4 top quality ones, we never learn
Quality over quantity...How often do we say it.
I have f all money and I know this.
Why does an Italian millionaire not?
We have regularly signed players like this the last few years.
It never works.
Yet fans get excited every time and try and justify the red flags.
Meanwhile the good players get sold.
It's no longer just one match any more, we just have to hope there are 3 teams worse than us in this league.
You don't have to look far to see why its the way it is, people said when this bod came in for us what it'd be like!..
Take note!..
Cheap player's in!..
Best player's sold!..
Money finding its way into another black hole!..
And another manacoach staring down the barrel of a gun!..
A different club but the same rules!..
Matty, in this league 3m gets you Chris Wood. Unless lucky ef Wilson etc. For a proven striker you need to drop upwards of 8m.
Rhodes
Ross
Assombalonga
This is the benchmark.
You also gotta drop around 4m at least for a top championship midfielder.
I've found out that in this league you have to pay the cost to be the boss, and what we are seeing is a manifestation of our transfer policy of:
Loanees
3m quid strikers
Prospects
Frees
Dnt get me wrong m, it can work, but rarely and it's IMPERATIVE u have a stable board to oversee and carry out the plan for such an approach, not the hit and hope we are seeing now.
LIW Rhodes would be the best "intent" signing since relegation.
Nah
Rhodes would be the biggest financial mistake
Utter garbage all round game and that's why he's been dropped time and again during his career
His goal scoring record has been excellent in this division. He is a poacher, think of Le Fondre but more clinical.
Footballs changed
You can't carry players with zero ability but can finish
That's why Darren bent barely played for five years
We are going nowhere without a quality midfield and how much does a classy midfielder cost nowadays £10 million just ask Eddie Howe.
I don't care about a midfielder being classy. All I want is someone to get the job done. I don't think you have to spend big to get good players and I don't think all the signings of the last few years have been essentially bad.
Lubo - the point I was trying to make is that we sell a decent, and on his day extremely effective midfielder and do not replace with like or better. In my book not a recipe for success.
And I agree a lot of the signings on paper have looked reasonable ones. My issue is that we seem to not be able to get these players playing consistently at any one time. Sum total no better than 13th.
I am mystified, as I alluded to on another thread how the club manages to get decent players to stall quite quickly.
Dave is essentially a reasonable player and although we have seen very little of late so is Murphy, yet for one reason or another the club are asking these two to move on.
Now I don't know what the answer is but is it the players fault, the Managers or the Unmentionable one?
Whatever the reason, it has to be dealt with fast otherwise we will be falling through the trap door again which for a club with our support and history is just plain unacceptable.

Strange comment.
I would say our five best not homegrown players in the championship have been Ross, Becchio, Grade, Snodgrass and Warnock. How much did we spend on Snodgrass and Grade? How much did we spend on Ross?
You don't need to sign players for 8 mill, you just need to sign the right players.
