Indeed...he even says we play more defensive than any top 6 despite being 2nd top scorers last season
............................................

If stats are proof then surely the fact you were one of the lowest conceding teams would say you were defensive.

Or...

You got good stats for defence and attack because you played well last season.

Leicester were the 3rd highest scores last season.... just 1 goal less than you. I suppose that means that both you and Leicester played very attacking football?

anyone who watches us can see that we are not a defensive team. We press hard all over the pitch and this is one reason why we conceded the fewest goals and the fewest amount of chances last season, because we do not sit back and soak up pressure, we are far more dynamic than that. We average about 60% possession, we were one of the highest chance creating teams. Just watching us shows we are not a defensive team and the stats back it up.

I wasn't saying you are a defensive team, but that stats would indicate so.

TBH my whole post was a complaint about people using the stats of a team that performed well to prove that their team were attacking / not defensive.

Mourinho managed one of the highest scoring PL teams season and Mancini's team outscored SAF's at least once, so Mourinho is the most attacking manager in PL history and Mancini is more attacking than Fergie...

Or the goals for and against category or a lot more to do with the quality of the team compared to those around it.

I wouldn't call you defensive btw it really was just a anti stats (in this case) rant.

re: best RB in the league, I'd say that while Clyne and Azpi are probably better defenders, Walker defending is now much improved, he is almost unbeatable one on one and he also has the better attacking game (still needs to improve final ball but his pace and willingness to get forward is a real threat which worries defences - 2 assists already this season so may be things are improving with his final ball.). As an all round RB, defence and attack, i'd say Walker has the edge. As a defender, he's not ahead of these other guys but it's his all round game that is important to the way we play. Interestinglythe last 2 England managers have him first choice

Im with you with the anti stats thing. They can help to inform an opinion or back it up, but really nothing beats understanding what is actually happening on the pitch

True but at least their opinion carries a bit more weight than partisan fans on some blog.

Does it? how so? I bet you spurs fans have watched kyle walker more than sam allardyce. Just because they are in a position of power does not mean they know everything, look at mourinho last year(maybe the best manager since fergie left)and yet everyone in the world saw ivanovic couldnt defend yet still was selected.

Key thing is that Spurs fans will say Walker better than Clyne and LFC fans will say the reverse.

The England manager is at least impartial.
