A fairly open game which neither dominated in spells, Germany struck early when Muller was given some space to drive home but Liverpool soon equalised with Pogba playing in Phillip who cut in from the left to drill home under the keeper. Liverpool then went in front in the second half when a cross in from Phillip was headed down by Morata into the path of Dybala who rifled home. Muller thos struck again near the end after a delightful ball from Kroos allowed Muller to round the keeper and pop it home

Portsmouth well on top in the opening stages, however they just couldn't make it count with there strikers slightly off form and also good defending from Arsenal, they did go in front early second half when Werner and Lewandowski linked well and the youngster scored fairly simply. Arsenal huffed and puffed but Portsmouth's defence was outstanding today and there was no way through unfortunately for Arsenal, Portsmouth doubled their lead on the 77 minute mark as Dembele's pace was too much and he played in Werner who was on hand to smack home his second of the pay, the tie is certainly not over but Arsenal need to pull off a massive result in the next round
Portsmouth 2 - 0 Arsenal

Newcastle v Leicester
A game on paper which saw goals and it didn't disappoint, straight from the whistle Leicester were on the front foot an took and early lead when Hazard got the better of Trent and crossed in fro Ronaldo, they doubled there lead in 24 mins when a surging drive by Azpilicueta down the left saw him feed the ball to Hazard who had cut inside he went passed Koulibaly with ease and slotted under Szczęsny. Newcastle struck back early however when there front three attacked with pace and a lay off to the feet of Salad by Firmino saw the winger half the lead
Second half again some great attacking play by both sides and again Hazard involved, really giving Trent a hard time today, he left him for dead as James played him in, some lovely footwork saw him passed the right back, he drifted into the box, looked like he was clipped by Marquinhos but he stayed on his feet and neatly cut it back into the goal, Newcastle weren't to be denied a further goall in the scintillating match and again Salad was on the score sheet, Pjanic this time floating the ball over, Salad got to it first and he drove home what could be a crucial goal if they are to have any chance at The King Power Stadium

Spain 2-2 Chelsea
A tight contest on paper and it was that way on the pitch too. Whilst the Spanish side had a lot to offer going forward, they were lite defensively, particularly in midfield and out wide, two areas where Chelsea excel in, and Chelsea's midfield, the nicely rounded cog it is, controlled possession for long spells and knew how to put a foot in when they had to. That being said Spain do have a hell of a lot of firepower, particularly for the flanks, and Emerson in particular was left isolated on more than one occasion. In the end it came down to their strengths cancelling each other out.
