Unless Barton fwcks up momentously (always a possibility) then he's in a very commanding position.
He'll have a watertight contract and a good agent and lawyers to advise him.
If he goes because Rangers don't want him or they try and conjure up some dismissal he'll be all over them in court and getting a right royal pay off.

I'm not sure if you believe that are are at the wum? Surely when clubs do a contract with a guy like Barton at Barton's age, with Barton's wsge and with his track record. It will be the club's who introduce safeguards into the contract, especially around stuff like damage to brand etc. I would have thought Rangers would almost certainly have a few "outs" as it were.

I wouldn't be surprised if players have "threatening and abusive language" or some code of conduct clause that 95% of players fall foul off. But nobody really bothers.
