I'm not saying that this is a meaningless competition. Otherwise we've only won 1 trophy in 132 years rather than 4.
I wanted to win. Even if it was a resigned shrug when we lost. The fewer games may well be a blessing in the weeks ahead.
Last year we had a strong first team, but not a squad that was a match with our competitors. We've not quite fixed that yet. It's a worry that Drinky, Morgan and Simpson are having to do so much work. The three positions where we need to add depth.

It's not meaningless just unnecessary when we have bigger priorities. If we were mid-table and no European football then it's a competition you want to do well in because of the benefits of winning it but not this season.

I hate to see us lose any match, but if this means that we now perform well in the PL and CL then so be it.
My observations from tonight are that as much as I love big Wasl, it's time to call it a day. It's like having a ticking time bomb in the team. The fouls and mistimed tackles are becoming too frequent and they are costing us.
At the risk of being slaughtered, I'm also thinking that Andy King's time is up too. I accept that he's served us so well over the years, and that he's Leicester through and through, but I just don't think he's effective enough in our current team. Watching him tonight, I felt that he just didn't assert himself enough and he appears almost lightweight in comparison to somebody like Drinkwater.
The speed of our progression has been too quick for some of our squad, and whilst some have blossomed like Vardy, Simpson and Drinkwater, others like Wasl, King and perhaps James etc have not kept up. Consequently when they are called upon now they look slightly exposed.
We look a real threat going forward, with more pace than I've ever seen in a Leicester team. However, in the next transfer window, we simply have to reinforce the midfield and defensive areas with players of quality and a younger age If we want to maintain our progression.
The fact that Drinkwater, Simpson and Morgan all had to play 120 mins tonight sums up how thin we are in these areas.

With no European football this season cup competitions are more important for Chelsea than Leicester. You won't win the league and probably won't finish in the top four with such a poor defence so you need to win a cup to be playing in Europe next season. Leicester on the other hand it don't "need" European football, it's just a bonus for us.

How did we get 'owned' with 2 goals against 10 men in extra time.
We dominated the first half and let in a shocking goal just before half time. You dominated the first 20 minutes of the second half and got yourselves back. We missed 2 great chances, an absolute sitter from King and you bought Hazard on who turned the game.
