This is purely an academic question as it has been raised many times over and in more serious surroundings than a fan format.
It has been rejected at all levels and it is highly unlikely it will ever come to pass any time in the next decade if ever at all. This in itself reduces the chances of either or both of the Old Firm entering the Premiership to mere conjecture and opinion.
Ironically the only chance of it happening at all would be if a British League were to be formed and since Scottish football fans, those who follow Celtic in particular, are dead set on separating from the UK, makes it next to impossible.
However, we can all still dream.....and express our opinions.
Ridiculous to say Celtic fans are restricted to Scotland. Massive fan bases in the US and Australia.
Put them in the PL now and they would most likely struggle. Give them 5 years and they build . Would they be any more successful than a team like Newcastle though? Depends on footballing decisions
Celtic are quite bigger than The Looters or the antique club Neverton.
FFS, neither Looters nor Neverton are not even a massively supported clubs in their own borough or City.
Wumming aside, if Celtic and Rangers wants to join PL, they have to follow the paths of Swansea, Cardiff and Wrexham by playing in the bottom then join the PL.
It's not fair for the said clubs if they get wildcard entry.

Lex I live in Europe and you're talking nonsense. I saw a Chelsea shirt on Sunday (hah) here in Hannover. I regularly see Arsenal shirts. I walk passed a billboard with Mesut Özil in one every day on the way to work. People can often be seen in PL shirts, even ones like Everton.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Was talking about the replica shirts displayed behind bars, Mr G. Seriously can't remember ever having seen an Arsenal one in all my travels. Kinda thing that I'm sure I would've remembered.
As I say, it's usually Liverpool, Man U and Celtic shirts. Strange when you consider the strong Irish connection Arsenal had in the 70s and early 80s.
I saw Arsenal shirt displayed in a Pizza restaurant in Rome.

Just out of interest is there anyone on here that was a fan before the PL era? How do you feel about owners like Gazidis? Arsenal are actually run well compared to most PL clubs but he doesn't seem to care about the club at all. Abramovic, The Glazers and some of Liverpool's owners have been pretty terrible too, not to mention the loonballs at clubs like Cardiff and Hull.
We had dodgy owners for a time and I'd never want anyone in charge of Celtic again who don't have a strong connection to the club previously.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Arsenal's owner is Kroenke. Not a fan of him to be honest. Don't like the fact that he takes £3m out of the club every year for 'services'. The trajectory of his American teams should be a cause for concern, but I don't think that Arsenal will end up like his American franchises.
Arsenal are nothing but an investment for him. That is how it comes across.
-------------------------------------
Has Gazidis still got a large stake or something then? I remember him recently saying something pretty much admitting it was just about making money to him. And you probably have some of the PL's better owners
Obviously there's an element of football clubs these days that's about making money and it's the same at Celtic and we have some gripes with the board, but I can trust that when it comes down to the big decisions our owners are Celtic supporters and will do what's best for the club.
I wouldn't trade that for the Premier League millions regardless of how much more successful it could make us.

*Arsenal's majority shareholder is Kroenke, he doesn't own the club, just owns more of it than anyone else (65% , or there abouts) and as such was invited onto the board who then pay him a wedge (~£3m, I think) for business consultantcy every year. Bit sh-t really.
And it was he who is quoted as saying something like "I didn't buy into this club to win trophies".
Then 30% odd is owned by the Russian.
The rest is made up of various smaller holdings, including the Supporter's Trust.
We've got charity organisations in Thailand etc and links to Japan, China and South Korea for sponsorships and few players from around there. Fan groups doing work in the Middle East too.

Well, you could probably continue your bafflement - he is on the board. But, I think he was basically saying "don't buy a club just to win trophies, you'll end up disappointed most of the time", which is kind of obvious, but clearly open to being taken out of context and blown out of proportion.

Btw, I'm not posting that to defend the guy - I think he's a nob. But fair's fair and all that.
It makes more sense in that context, but given the position you're in and amount of time without a title it's unnecessarily provocative, bound to be twisted the way it has been.
My point was that Arsenal are sensibly run in comparison to most PL clubs and the board still aren't particularly focused on the football.
Could be worse though, could have Abramovich and sack your manager every third defeat

Firstly, even City fans and observers say that a draw was a fair result
Secondly, no one is saying that we could compete at the top end with our current squad - the club size + tradition+brand+ premiership gazillions+new players = future success
Thirdly - it's not going to happen - Turkeys don't vote for an early Christmas
Celtic have a good record against English clubs if memory serves. It is only Arsenal who smashed them with no problem.
Arsenal are the only English team that have beat us at home in a UEFA competition since Nottingham Forest in 1983.

Travel round Europe and in every town there'll be an Irish pub and behind every bar there will nearly always be a replica football shirt.

Don't think I've ever seen an Arsenal shirt in all my travels. Only other obvious football allegiance I've seen was earlier this year in Vienna. The club is called Chelsea.
The owner is a Chelsea supporter, just in case any of you were wondering about this

Maybe you should broaden your horizon a bit Lexxie and visit bars other than Irish ones where it's only natural you'll see Celtic shirts. I've been in hundreds of sports bars and pubs all over North America, Mexico, the Caribbean, Australia and even a couple in South Africa and seen 10x more Barca, Real, Juventus, Milan and even Bayern Munich tops than I have Celtic or Rangers ones. But you stick to your Dublin-theme pubs and you'll always feel right at home bhoy-o.
Irish bars around the world - just the same as any other bars except they sell imported Guiness and have plastic shamrocks on the walls - I avoid them if at all possible.
