I imagine they'll try and come to some sort of agreement with him to leave. Rangers won't want to keep a player on their books that is a drain, and that isn't a major contributor to the team. Barton I would imagine won't want to spend the last 18 months of his career training with the youths. As for the deal, it will come down to who blinks first.

Rangers don't need to negotiate or agree anything if he is in breach of contract. If he is then they can sack him the same as any employee anywhere else and the same as Sandaza was sacked for less.
I don't know what is in his contract but like any employer there will be stipulations and Rangers will be entitled to terminate his contract if he has breached these.
I obviously am not close to it but if they have extended his suspension another week and he hasn't involved the PFA to fight his corner (which he hasn't) then it would suggest the formalities are being drawn up with a view to his employment at Rangers ending. Rangers would also be obliged to update him on developments so you would think if he was ready to contest anything his legal team would be all over it already.
It is frustrating that it is dragging on another week but better to have it drag on another week than another 2 years.
