Bet you any money that despite his form for City, Sterling will remain shiiite for England too, like Walcott.
Anyone think that if we picked a team full of the non-regulars and players a bit more outside the box from the usuals, we'd do better? I'm talking Townsend, Austin, Dann etc.; players who might act like they give more of a shiiite that they're playing for England cause they're not quite as privileged domestically as the regs?
Maybe, but u feel the issue is more finding a system and then picking the players to fit into it

On paper Wilshere is much better than Henderson.

10 of the 11 last night didn't play well. Think it was a combination of a tough away match on a shiite pitch & Southgate getting the tactics wrong. He set up for them playing the diamond In MF, when they played 4-3-3.
Aside from yesterday, from all the England performances I've seen from Wilshere and Henderson, Wilshere has been better.

He's been injured.
I think you'll get a similar opinion from most neutrals TBH, and I am a neutral. I should be the last person defending Wilshere, but the truth he has more talent than Henderson and his England performances overall have been better.

Wilshere was shocking at the Euro's, that's why he was dropped to the bench. He's been back to fitness and playing at Bournemouth, yet hasn't been picked for the squad. That says it all.
Wilshere is a talented player that offers very little. He has a decent passing range, that is it.
Play them both with Dier surely?

A combo of Henderson and Dier is poor IMO.
Dier is a decent DM, but if he is going to anchor the midfield, whoever plays alongside him needs to offer more than Henderson.
They should never play together unless we are looking to be very defensive (although it didnt work well last night defensively).
Henderson is a decent passer but if playing next to Dier he needs to offer more creativity and have the ability to go past players to create space for others. He can't. Between them they are not going to scare too many opposition, and it is easy for the opposition to stand off them and mark the attacking players.
Much of our problems i think have stemmed from this position. Firstly Rooney and now Henderson. The better teams have someone in this position who is capable of opening up teams and creating space for others. The opposition can stand off Rooney and Hendo, mark the forward players well and know that they are not going to get hurt.
Wilshire can do this. May be Lallana too, and possibly Drinkwater is a better option (on last seasons form).
Our poor defence also influences the selection. we need a DM to protect the less than solid CBs and Dier is probably the best option as he has the ability to naturally drop back into defence.
The ball comes too predictably and too slow from midfield, into a crowded final third. Until this is solved we will not get the best out of our forward line and Alli.

He's had more MOTM performances. Had a spell where he was our best player a few years ago, and then at the end of the last qualifying campaign. Not seen that from Hendo yet.
