No, I don't care it we aren't any good. I want to see us playing at world cups.
Lower expectations = less frustration

We have some very decent players. All of them play in the top clubs in the land, apart from Cahill .
The problem is the management. Sort that out and we can once again go far but get eliminated as unlucky losers
It'd be better if the players/manager etc were more honest in the build up to these tournaments, so instead of the usual claptrap "going there to win it, as good as any team out there, fear no one, on the verge of something special" etc etc, they could say "not a hope in hell, absolutely clueless, making up the numbers"
And that way I'd have more respect for them
Part of me wouldn't mind seeing us avoid the inevitable bloodbath of fan violence.
The football side of things though, I'd always want to be in it... alot can change in two years. No one gave Portugal a chance and it was the weakest side for decades, but good, pragmatic management got them a trophy.
We don't have a single outfield player currently in England team that would get in our 2004 team that started vs Portugal.
Dele Ali, Kane, Sterling, Rashford etc would all be subs.
We're an average side now.

I remember 94 and 08, both tournaments bored me to death without us there.
The economy takes a big hit if we fail to qualify too apparently. I remember reading something in 2008 that said our failure to get to the Euros cost the country about £1bn, dunno how true that is though.
Besides, no qualification means no scapegoat, and we can't have that

We had a proven top manager in Capello a few years ago with a better quality squad and even he couldn't get us to perform. The problem is far deeper than that. Half of our players look good for their clubs then they put on an England shirt and turn to $hit almost overnight.
I would be happy if we didn't qualify, we offer nothing at tournaments and it's just something to get annoyed about when we inevitably don't deliver.
If it caused a major overhaul in terms of the FA, management, and the whole structure then I would be more than happy.
In reality it would probably cause Southgates sacking, and then we would hire Pulis or Hughes and the same sheit spiral will continue.
I'd prefer it if we just did away with the Euros, Acon etc etc.
Just have a World Cup every four years with a few more teams in it.
At the moment international football is basically a pain and essentially gets in the way of club football. Have much less of it and then it'll get back a bit of the magic it's lost.
Hopefully this will be the last FIFA WC. Scrap it all or make it like the Confederations Cup.
Such a ridiculously arrogant view to have on it. "If we can't win it, why bother?"
There are literally dozens of countries whose fans would love to be in our position in world football.
The expectations need to change, but the desire to be at these competitions should not. Not being at USA 94 was a miserable experience for any England fan who endured it - why would we, as football fans, not want to have a stake in the World Cup?
How long has she been supporting City? I'll be surprised if it's longer than a few years given her outlook on this.
Remember when this burton on Trent thing was going to revolutionise English football?

Spot on, very average team now. Think we will qualify as we seem to have a decent group again.

I comissioned a detailed investigation into the failings of the England national team. The comprehensive study took almost 4 seconds and concluded that they are just shiiite.
